坐在商学院的会议室,一个崭新的环境,想起一年来申请走过的路,想起还有很多朋友也

本文是写给申请目标是20-30名商学院MBA录取, 30-70名全额奖学金的工作或实习时间相对较0 L1 C3 E& [; l) w. z: W- Z
短的朋友。对我们当前没有强大收入基础的申请者来说,奖学金是影响申请策略和选校的关; Z) J! R2 I. k+ M1 c& p6 Z; _
键因素,没有奖,录取了很多时候也是不能去,因此我们要尽力争取全额或全学费的奖学金。

不同商学院对都有不同的Essay题目要求,0 l6 ` L8 c: [. ]+ b* }8 t' ~* `
不同的学校需要的数量不一样,顶级学校需要七八篇,跟着的学校则需三到五篇,其中最主要. ~' y7 E+ a0 d
的是目的型和事例型两种Essay,典型的目的类题目包括Why MBA, Why our school, Career S" j! S0 u7 \ M, V- j( s0 }9 c8 A
goal等。
3 ^' A$ j7 D6 y$ Z$ } D3 O! c# j- X- m! O
(1)目的类: 写目的类的Essay的时候需要体现出比较强烈和符合逻辑的求学动机, 需要尽量体现出' V+ R9 \7 i- ^2 J" _' i( b: B: L
团队背景,领导力和商业嗅觉。由于我是技术类出身,这里主要说说技术类背景申请者的文章8 w2 p2 d. {/ F9 F! v6 R) W
撰写,但是思想是可以融会到其他领域的朋友的申请。! `4 ]6 k4 H0 ^7 n
) Q, }7 Y; s3 X" z" C
首先第一点是要展现出过去对部门,开发团体的有效的领导,这点一般大家都会强调的。+ @6 p+ m+ g! \8 V8 e. |5 I9 E# h
需要指出的是另一点,以前学习工作与将来发展跟商业发展的联系。与新的商务技术有联系% g. M, z# q# f) }
的背景需要强调,举些例子,如果是计算机背景的,可以提ERP, CRM, 数据仓库,人工智能的
5 z3 }6 D7 J" N4 j3 U2 M商务应用等,从事或学习统计和数学类的可以联系金融数量模型,数据挖掘,人工神经网络的: e9 m+ `$ d8 g: U7 `- g
市场预测等,学习网络与通信类的,可以提无线商务,宽带商务等。
) L. [ ^# Q: U% \在商学院比较注重Diversity,虽然与你竞争的有很多经验丰富的商务咨询和会计市场等传统商, P9 V# e. O' i% T
业背景的申请者,可是他们同一类人数多,而且之间不容易突出优势,但是如果你可以有比较特
7 S( U+ w6 f( l: z9 |/ W殊而有创新,特别是有时代性的应用性商务背景,即使经验不长,也可以以弱胜强,占得位置。
5 K. C7 l$ Z9 C% c& y商学院申请者需要针对录取委员会的口味对之前工作或实习的部门做描述。在先进高新特殊+ Y1 O* {, m1 g. F8 f& X
的行业中的申请者容易受青睐,由于它可以吸引录取委员的新奇和注意,在几年前互联网时代,
$ J0 E' \0 \8 j0 F互联网工作者可以在申请中脱颖而出,现在虽然已经时势变了,但是又有新的领域,这个思想是7 R* {* |1 i8 i& }
一样的,如果工作中可以有涉及高新商务应用的需要重点提。

另外有两点可以弥补申请者工作时间不够的不足,而这两点都是基于如何可以在更短时间内% f0 }) n S7 u4 B
积累商务经验和知识的思想上的,

(2)事例类: 事例型的Essay有三类题目最常见也最重要:领导能力,团队能力,解决困难能力的例子。
. E$ j% L3 j" o. ^其中组织,协调和决策三个行为最有说服力,- p+ c9 z* ^! [. w' G# N1 {
有效的例子包括 1.团队内部观念,等级的落差以及纠纷的协调 2.对多项计划的综合(取优)- }4 y! S6 ], [6 e" z# j& U
决策 3. 复杂任务和时间紧迫情况的安排 4. 根据人员能力,经验,特性工作分配 5. 说服类

可以雕凿好一两个有力例子根据不同题目定制。

MBA的奖学金主要是以Scholarship/Fellowship和Assistantship两种形式( N2 Y7 u j H& I
Assistantship是有偿服务的形式的经济资助,包括有Research Assistant和Teaching
. Y( T! |% u5 Y/ qAssistant 两种工作, 通常是每星期工作10小时(也有的学校是提供比较不常见的每星期20小时' |+ y& d$ X$ @ V9 J6 p1 |, N s$ }
的工作,比如UTDallas,不过奖学金额度更高),学校给予每年免学费的奖学金再加五到六千的/ D" w' K2 v! U Z4 s; M9 ^( c. f
报酬及福利。这里需要提出的是,如果曾经在美国研究生院担任过RA或者TA的工作,一定要强调
7 F3 p+ d f, f4 @8 N( E引起录取委员的注意。而Scholarship是大部分学校都会给予一定的被录取学生的,或多或少。

通用观点,考试时,模板一上,再把观点翻来正去的说几遍,就成文了。
