[B]Unification or Diversity?[/B]

In education, curriculum design and determination are really important affairs to every nation. As far as I know, in China, students study almost the same curriculum until they enter college. But is it a must thing? To my point of view, although there are lots of reasons to argue for a required curriculum for all the schools, national government should take different needs and cultural factors of different parts of the nation into consideration and give the curriculum more space to develop their own characters.

Undeniably, a unitive curriculum in all parts of the nation can do lots of good to the nation as a whole. The same education content can cultivate children in the same way with the same things. Thus, the history of the whole nation and the nation's common ethics, values and culture can be transmitted in the uniform means. As a result, the national whole characters and traits can be inherited much better than that under the circumstances that different curriculum are taught in different parts of the nation. And while the same culture and value system of the nation are keeping on wholly and perfectly, the nation will get more cohesion and more possibility to continue and develop in one direction.

However, if we require that the subjects that students learn are all the same in all parts of the nation, we will see that this nation will lose its variety inside. In a multi-natural society, just like America and China, there are lots of different or even conflicting ideologies existing, which requires that we should consider different needs and demands of different groups of people, just like the marketing in which we must understand and cater different demands of customers. When it comes to education, it is the same. When we cultivate and offer curriculum resources to the students, on the basis of the same national values and virtues, we should consider different ethic communities' culture and values. We need to preserve the differences inside the same, which can help the nation more vivid and energetic. In the field of business management, differences, or even conflicts, is not a necessary bad thing, in that it may bring fresh airs to the organization and new ideas. Nation is the same, keeping differences can give people more opinions, and it can also bring the society into a more comprehensive situation which is vital in this world. Thus, we should also cater different "customers"' demands when we determine curriculum and offer educational products. Different ethnic groups have different traits, thus, it is our obligation to give them the opportunity to preserve and promote their traditional cultures, which should be embodied in the education system.

Thus, how to combine the nation's common value system and different groups' traits? In my opinion, we should require some certain core curriculum while allow different parts and groups to add different courses on the basis. The core courses construct a basic and common culture and value system and basic abilities that the whole nation should preserve and develop, while the added courses are according to different culture needs and demands of different ethnic groups. Different parts of nation can cultivate their own cultures. For instance, in China, we can make the Chinese, maths, the history of China, and some virtue courses as the core curriculum, while we allow different groups of people, just as some minorities, to learn their own language, literature and values besides of the core subjects. In this way, on one hand, we can preserve our national culture and values as a whole, and on the other, we can keep and develop the variety and diversity inside, since that the both aspects are important to national development.

When we consider both the unification and diversity of the curriculum, it is necessary that the national government and different groups of people should make efforts together to achieve the goal. It can be successful only under the circumstance that we understand the need to combine and take it into real actions. And I believe that we can make it.

我先提点意见,你把issue题目写在开头啊,那样就不用去题库翻了,还有不要老是小女子小女子的,嗯,好像JJ我很老了已经:(先占着,明天给你看,本本没电池了:(
