Among the large amount of courses available for students to choose from, which is the most indispensable course that benefits people most? The speaker claims that it is ethics that should be placed emphasis on, even if the ethics might taken up the students’ time and energy to study their academic subjects. I agree with the speaker to some extent that ethics lessons are necessary for students, however, as far as I am concerned, these lessons should not engross too much time so that students can manage their academic study.
On one hand, the essence of teaching is to teach the children or yongsters to be honest people. When born everybody is like a piece of blank paper on which life and experience will paint numerous paintings, both colorful and dull, both homonious and contridictive. Thus, ethics courses are of vital importance in that it effevtively helps to shape a person’s rightous character. The Bible warns human being that the nature of human is evil, so the adults should try their utmost to erase the wickness from children. Therefore, lessons concerning with morality should be the core of education during which all students are required to take suffient coursed in ethics.
In addition, courses in ethics also entitles people with the courage and faith to conquer obstacles in their lives, which does much contribution to the developments in other fields, such as science and technology, philosophy, and so on. For instance, Thomas Edison, accepting his education from his mother, never surrendered to countless failure when he was trying to do some invention, and finally he became a great inventor with thousands of patents that impelled people’s life to a more advanced level. It’s also morality that sometimes prevents the world from disasters. Albert Einstein refused to serve for Hitler to develop atomic bomb and escaped to the United States. If he hadn’t so that, the war-weary people in the World War 2 would suffer from an even more terrible tragedy.
On the other hand, it is not wise or necessary that ethics courses more than appropriate are required. The main task of the students is to learn major courses enduing them with skills and knowledge useful in their future life. If the ethics courses take up too much time, which leads to lack of time and energy to study academic lessons, the students would probably fail in the future competition.
What is more, ethics courses are not always effective in building up a integral personality. Moraloty lies in human beings’ minds but not is only printed on the books. It is better to learn ethics from practice in daily life than to solely learn ethics in the class. Hence, effetiveness and harmness should be taken into consideration when the students are required to study courses on ethics.
In conclusion, ethics courses are necessary for students to take in that the lessons help to shape honest and tough people. However, ethics lessons in nature have some confine such as time and energy comsuming and the doubt about its effect comparing with practice.
