Money spent on research is almost always a good investment, even when the results of that research are controversial.

With the development of all kinds of researches, some believe that money spent on research is always a wise decision, while others commonly held opinions are money spent on researches whose results are controversial is incorrect. As far as I am concerned, researches should be invested unless the results are obviously harmful.

Generally speaking, scientific achievements have made great contribution to the well-being of the human beings. For example, in the field of medical treatment, only through research can doctors find new medicines or therapies which may bring investor a huge profit and bring patient a healthy body. About ten years ago, AIDS was looked on as incurable disease, but now the cure is possible since a few cases can survive longer than 5 years. Doctors also have the confidence that this virus will disappeared finally. Heart diseases, cancer and other diseases are the same situation as AIDS. This illustrate that if anything hampered the investment on research, the result is people can hardly progress at any aspects of our daily life including industry, education, agriculture and other fields.

Another point is that, the course of the research which finally leads to controversial result itself is a learning procedure. If we have no courage to face the controversial result, we are going to be far away from success. When a researcher begin a experiment, he don't know what the result is, maybe beneficial to human, or maybe useless, in this case, other people and the mass media will laugh at him. Under this circumstance, what the scientists need to success are confidence and a mind which isn't afraid of losing. Let's take Edison for example, a huge number of people regarded the process of making bulb as a joke when Edison can't find a proper filament at that time. Paying no attention to the jeerer, Edison succeed after trying 120,0 kinds of filament. Imagine if he quitted when others thought there are no possibility to let a filament give off light bright enough to illuminate a room, we might live in dark now. It is a pity that Edison didn't get paid at that time, therefore, investors today should spent money on researches for the purpose that maybe they are the next "Edison's bulb".

Admittedly, not all investment on the research are reciprocal, there are also cases of research that threaten the interest of people. For instance, the research of atomic energy provide a new form of energy used for generating electricity and working force while this kind of energy is so enormous that it can used for making atomic bomb. Another example is that the using of transgenic technology, many researchers are trying to find transgenic plants and animals that are more productive than normal plants and animals, but other researchers may use this technology in human beings which may result in ill sequence. Under this situation, money spent on research is not a good investment because it do harm to the human beings, and thus endanger our environment and society. Once happened, the result cannot be changed. The purpose of research should be carefully and responsibly guided if the government has been aware of that danger. It is the purpose of the research rather than research itself was controversial.

In conclusion, a good investment is a carefully and responsibly guided research. If the purpose of research is controversial but not harmful, we still should spent money on it in that the result will beneficial to our daily life and development and the failure is a learning procedure.

开头不错 可以形成自己的魔板
B1 个人觉得例子举AIDS不是太好 毕竟现阶段还是绝症 霍乱疟疾黑死病 放着那么多好用的干吗不用呢
B2的论述就有一点问题了 因为我也写过这篇所以感觉非常明显
题目的含义被用在第二段的论证中应该是由于研究结果有可预见的争议而不被支持的情况
而Edison的例子并没有很好地说明controversial 这个关键词 灯泡研究成功与否顶多面临一个失败的问题 却不致引起社会争议  这也是我在论证和举例时颇为头疼的问题


这篇属于举例论证方面比较棘手的文章 B2中提出的问题我自己也觉得比较麻烦
总体上语言和结构还都是不错的
