193 The department of Education in the state of Attra recommends that high school students be assigned homework everyday. Yet a recent statewid survey of high school math and science teachers calls the usefulness of daily homework into question. In the destrict of Sanlee, 86 percent of the teachers reported assigning homeworkd three to five times a week , whereas in the district of Marlee, less than 25 percent of the teachers reported assigning homework three to five times a week. Yet the students in Marlee earn better grades overall and are less likely to be required to repeat a year of school than are the students in Sanlee. Therefore, all teachers in our high schools should assign homework no more than twice a week, if at all.

In the argument above the author conclude that all teachers in high schools should assign homeworkk no more than twice a week. To support the cnoclusion . the author compared the student's grades in the district of Marlee and that of Sanlee. where the author argues that students in Marlee have a better grade while with fewer assignment . The author also priveds some fingers to strengthen this comparation. While there are some problems with the argument and the figures themselves.
First, The author argues that 86% percent of the teachers in Sanlee reported assign homework three to five times a week while the finger in Marlee only count for less than 25% . And Sanlee students are doing better grade than those in Marlee . However ,to have a further consideration , I kept wondering that  how many times of assignment do the left teachers assign in Sanlee . It is very possible that they can acutally assign more than 5 times homework every week . If that was true. It is no wander that Sanlee studnets could get a better grade than Marlee students do.
Second, the author quoted that the teachers that call the usefulness of daily homework into question are those who teaches science and math and then in his conclusion he generalize the call to all the teachers.  Given that we admit math and science do require less assignment as they need understanding more than practic . It cannot be extended to other teacher ,especially those socially and literatial areas . For example , In Reading or writing class , large amounts of practices are required in order to trully understand the course.
Furthermore,  even if that Marlee students do have less homework than Sanlee and have a better grade. Is it also applicable to other districts  Without knowing the background of the eduction in these 2 areas. It is possible that in the district of Marlee , they own a better teacher team than Sanlee do , so they know the correct way to enlight the students. Or
it is also possible that the High School or in Marlee owns a higher reputation for decades so that they can always have better students enrolled every year . All are plausible explanation to the better grades of students in Marlee with fewer assignment .
In sum , the author made a hasty generaliztion with an incomplete figures.  Had the author provide with more details

,like the figures that who assign more than 5 times homework in the two area or made explicit comparision with the

educational background in this two areas . It could be more persuasive to me to accept the conclusion.
