31"Money spent on research is almost always a good investment, even when the results of that research are controversial."

In this era of rapid economic development and knowledge displacement, we face the problem of economy and science inevitably. I believe that the principle of balance between economy improvement and science technology update is advisable as to many conditions existed.
As a matter of fact, not every field of research is open to us as there are some illegal fields which are too destructive, harmful or against morality and ethic. What is famous about this is that the global prohibition of the research and production of nuclear weapon and related nuclear research because of the horrendous destruction of the nuclear energy; and another is the gene cloning to human being, which faces extremely opposite views that may cause moral earthquake. So the research on the fields is more dangerous that beneficial.
Even for normally directions of research, research is not always a good choice comparative to the choice of immediate economy increase. We cannot guarantee sufficient finance so we face the investment on science or on development; though common sense and historical experience tell us scientific research plays an important role to improve economy, maybe direct investment to production and manufactory is more beneficial. Looking back the history of new China after World War II and the successful fruit of the development these years, we can see the right choice though there are some setbacks: Sometimes production is the core industry while this country was new and young, and sometimes science and technology is the first productive force by Deng, and sometimes these two sides are combined as the central tasks.
Whether the money spent on research is almost always a good investment depends on how we evaluate it, that is, what is the criterion for the “good” investment. Under most circumstances, research result is always useful to the progress of science, whether controversial or not. In fact, a controversial result may provide a different perspective that will reveal a more comprehensive scrutiny about the whole entity or the controversial result may even be the truth. Just consider what the great astronomer Copernicus did to prove that the earth is round the sun. However, on the other hand, a research is not necessarily beneficial just evaluated whether it is useful to real production. There were funds spent on the researches that hardly play any roles in industry in the foreseeable period of time however their results are, and we have no idea about the information of these researches without any estimation standards.
In all, as a country or company where there are many directions, money spent on research is not always a good choice, and we should keep in mind that there is a balance. The balance is leaned to which side is relied on how the situation is, how it leaned is as to the criterion that we made and we must keep it in mind.

In all, as a country or company where there are many directions, money spent on research is not always a good choice, and we should keep in mind that there is a balance. The balance is leaned to which side is relied on how the situation is, how it leaned is as to the criterion that we made and we must keep it in mind. (the repeated use of "keep in mind" body should be avoided, especially in such a short body.)

1) the essay should be objective, so too many "we", "us" sounds not good
2) try to make your essay more logical
3) try to express your thoughts clearly.
