With tremendous development of art and science, civilization is becoming  more and more flourishing, at the same time, the true value of civilization is also cause its impact on society. What reflect civilization's value, artistic creations or scientific accomplishments? As the assertion presented by speakers, it is the former. But, In my opinion, artistic creations and scientific accomplishments, both reflect the merit of civilization.

Generally speaking, civilization is an advanced stage of intellectual, cultural, and material development in human society, marked by progress in the arts and science. The true value of civilization, including material and nonmaterial civilization, brings pleasure and convenience in life, norms on moral, and guidance on healthy development of the whole society.

Firstly, shown as many different incarnations, such as dramas, music, paintings, literary novels and sculpture, and so on, the artistic creations provide us pleasure and instruction which are the basic value of civilization. Considered these situations for examples, everyday we can meet : one can not help to laugh during reading humor literature; One may also immerses himself/herself into attractive plot of movies; One may applauds for some beautiful paintings again and again in exhibition. No matter which way art is shown in, it always offer us sheer entertainment. Moreover, some works perhaps guides the moral directions of society and reveals the deficient respect of society. Photographer Sherry Levine has used unique images of women to call for oppression of disdain to women. His works remaind us to pay much more attention to equal right of women, because in a civilized society equality is necessary. Therefore, artistic creations, in some time, play an important role in guiding our society's development.

However, do only arts do good to reflecting the value of civilization? In fact, scientific accomplishments are also important in reflecting the true value of civilization, especially in such society that science is expanding by leaps and bounds. Besides of pleasure and instruction, other basic value of civilization is convenience and high-technology production which can only be offered by scientific accomplishments, rather than artistic creations. For example, network bring out the change in communication; car industry make our transportation more easily; space shuttle give the chance to human to realize the universe, these are only typical ones of dozens. Provided that there are no today's scientific accoplishments, human is also living in original and brutal way, using simple tools made by stone, traveling by only horses, and such society could be a civilized society? So no scientific accomplishments, there will no today's civilization, not to mention the value of civilization.

To sump up, the true value of civilization is reflected not only in artistic creations, but also in scientific accomplishments, neglect any one is not intact.
