37Woven baskets characterized by a particular distinctive pattern have previously been found only in the immediate vicinity of the prehistoric village of Palea and therefore were believed to have been unique to the Palean people. Recently, however, archaeologists discovered such a "Palean" basket in Lithos, an ancient village across the Brim River from Palea. The Brim River is very deep and broad, and so the ancient Paleans could only have crossed it by boat, but there is no evidence that the Paleans had boats. And boats capable of carrying groups of people and cargo were not developed until thousands of years after the Palean people disappeared. Moreover, Paleans would have had no need to cross the river—the woods around Palea are full of nuts, berries, and small game. It follows that the so-called Palean baskets were not unique to Palea


In the argument ,the author advocates substantiated by some current dicovers that  Palean baskests were not unique to Palea.Although it is seems persuadly,yet there is sever flaws the author ignores.

First ,it is too hasty to infer relay on the Brim River is very deep and broad that the anciant Paleans could only have crossed it by boat  .Posiblly,in the prestine days,the Brim River which is very deep and broad today,is only a stream.Evenmore there was little water on the area where is the Brim River currently.Thus,the anciant people could wander the both sides of the Brim River today.Let alone to carry groups of people and cargo to the Lithos.So,lacking evidences to show the Brim River is formed even deep and broad in the period the anciant Paleans lived ,the author can not conclude he assumes.

However,even if the Brim Rive was as deep and broad as today in the primary,the Paleans would have crossed it by a boat which no evidence shows had been intorduced to the anciant Paleans.In that case,the boat might not a boat ,but only a raft the archaeologist overlooks.Morever,the anciant Palean need not transport so many people and cargo at one time,it is entirely pssible that conveyed all the things during a long time that can not imaged.

Furthermore,the author fails to claim that there was no need to cross the river for anciant Pelean because Palea were full of nuts,berries,and small games.Comensense tells us,people exchang to others is not only particully for productions and food,but also for more reasons--war,marrage,and so on.The  recommend rets on the assume can not convice me.

In sum,as it stands,the argument weaken by the flaws the author overlooks.To make the conclution more convinced,the author should make more evidence support it.
