------题目------
In any field of inquiry, the beginner is more likely than the expert to make important discoveries.
------正文------
In any field of inquiry there are numerous important discoveries, but who had made them, the beginners or the experts. People today put forward a question about these. In my view I think both of them can make some important discoveries but unfortunately they also have inferior elements respectively and from my angle the most effective way to make important discoveries is encouraging them to cooperate.
At first we need respectively analyzing the characters of the beginners and the experts before we discuss the topic. As for beginners, they are persons who just come into the field. They have strong interest to this new field, act more actively and have no limitation of their ideas, but they have little, if any, knowledge and experience of this field. Oppositely the experts, who have been working in the field for many yeas, are knowledgeable and have accumulated so many experiences by their endeavor in this field, but may act less active and are usually limited by some fixed mode of thought. However, in a word, the respective advantages of the two groups of people give both of them the chances to make important discoveries, and at the same time the respective disadvantages impede them to making these discoveries.
One the one hand, experts, after working in the field for many years, they have already noticed the flaws or mistakes in this field, and they also have the ability to revise and correct them based on their accumulated experiences and knowledge. In academic field, for example, Einstein, who put forwards the theory of relativity, was an expert in his field, and it is no doubt that his great contribution is based on his working in this field for so many years. However beginners are also have chances to make great discoveries even though they do not have enough knowledge. They have active ideas and have no limitation of fixed mode of thinking. They have courage to put forwards anything they do not agree with or suspect without anxiety of being accused and they like to spend time and energy to verify them.
On the other hand, sometimes experts’ experiences may lead them mistakenly ignore some strange appearances in the field. They may think those strange ones are only caused by carelessness, Moreover, even they may admit that there are definitely different phenomenon from the normal ones , they may feel that they lack the energy and time to study them more deeply. As for beginners, though they can bravely and actively advance questions, the value of these questions are not so much and most of them may be caused by their lack of knowledge and experience. So because of different characters of beginners and experts, they need to cooperate in the works. Experts should encourage the beginners to ask questions and put forwards their different opinions. They should considerably think them over no matter how ridiculous it seems. The beginners, on the other hand, should discuss with experts as many as possible, especially when they have uncertainties. Moreover keep the ardor of exploring new things, and when the experts advance some skepticism, they should assistant the experts to verify them, for example, doing experience.
In sum the beginners and experts also have the chances to make important discoveries, but they also have inferior flaws. They should cooperate in the work and by doing this, the field will keep improving. |
