no field of study can advance significantly unless outsiders bring their knowledge and experiences to that field of study
is there any field of study can significantly advance by its own ? so far none has not been found at least .in a certain stage ,maybe ,it can develop by itself ; in a long period ,however ,any can not avoid the final that depends on outsiders to get further advance ,who bring their knowledge and experiences to that field of study .i give this argument for the following reasons.

in the one hand ,a breakthrough in the study of one field usually leads to a great development in that of another ,because some interrelation always exist between different field ,such as that some studies of one field are based upon the theories of others ,or a new kind of technology in one domain becomes significantly important to the development of another ,and so on .take the discovery of Pluto for example ,which seems a typical case .scientists had always believed that there were only eight planets in the solar system before Nweton set up the law of gravity. However ,later some people found that the orbit of Neptune circulating the sun did not accord that calculated under Newton’s law ,so they hypothesized that another more planet must have existed ,and soon the ninth planet in the solar system ,the Pluto ,was discovered .it is appearance of the law of gravity that causes the discovery of the Pluto, which we have to admit.

in the other hand ,researchers can get inspiration from studies of other fields sometimes ,.especially when the study in a field suffers great difficulties that can not conquered with the known knowledge and experiences . the invention of radar is a good example .during a long period ,it is a problem interrupting  scientists to locate subjects accurately ,while by researching a ordinary animal ,a rat ,they find the key to this problem .by sending out a certain kind of sound waves ,and receiving those reflected ,rats locate subjects ,the mechanism of which enlighten scientists ,who invent the radar universally used today.

in addition ,what happened in history and what is happening now also prove that ,no field can develop independently ,from astronomy to geography ,from the newest computer science to archeology ,a old field studying behaviors of our ancestors . as a confined nation could hardly become thrived for its isolation from the world, like what happened in china before her reformation, the study in a field would not make essential progress in the view of a long stage, both of which imply the same law.

To conclude ,in a world that changes as fast as ours ,the exchange of a large amount of information between different people ,fields and nations, happens every day .excluding the knowledge and technology of other fields is the same as to burden the study of this field, so being open ,not to certain person ,but to outsiders of all fields ,seems a way ,and maybe the solo way , for the study to go further.

on the one hand ,a breakthrough in the study of one field usually leads to a great development in that of another ,because some interrelation always exist between different field   ,such as that some studies of one field are based upon the theories of others ,or a new kind of technology in one domain becomes significantly important to the development of another ,and so on .

这段楼上说的也有道理,因为这似乎只是个必要条件而非充分条件。
我继续修改,再请老兄指正。

我按上面的思路修改过了请兄台审阅

Is there a field of study which can advance significantly by its own? So far , none has been found. In a certain stage, maybe it can develop by itself; in a long period, however, any field of study could not avoid its final that it needs the help of outsiders
who bring their knowledge and experiences to make greater progress. I give this argument based on the following reasons.

First of all, it should be admitted that a field of study can advance independently in some stage, and this has been proved by history. The study of a field takes several stages, in each of which its dependence on the elements out of that field is different.  Sometimes, when the information and technology known are enough for them to go forward, researches could be carried out without the help of outsiders. Astronomy ,for example, though not with the name today in ancient times, remained a job only among astrologers for a long period, who carried on their studies by watching celestials, and left a lot of valuable documents.

If  consider this problem in a longer period, however, people would find that no field of study can get significant advancement without knowledge and experiences of outsiders. In the first place there are complex interrelations between various fields, which leads to a fact that not only does a field of study depend on the conditions of its own ,but also depends on these of others. And the positive effect of other fields appear in two spheres ,new technology and new theories, both of which are essential to any field of study. For instance, without the invention of microscopes, the research of organism would never get to the level of cells ;it is because the discovery of the law of gravity, that astronomers found  the orbit of Neptune did not accord with what was calculated under this law, so they asserted another more planet exist in the solar system, and the Pluto, the ninth planet, was found later.

In the second place, researchers can usually get inspiration from studies of other fields s ,.especially when the study in a field suffers great difficulties that can not be conquered with the known knowledge and experiences . The invention of radar is a good example .during a long period ,it is a problem interrupting scientists to locate subjects accurately ,while by researching an ordinary animal ,a bat ,they find the key to this problem .By sending out a certain kind of sound waves ,and receiving those reflected ,rats locate subjects ,the mechanism of which  enlightens scientists ,who invent the radar universally used today.

In addition , in a historical view, what happened in history and what is happening now tell a truth that no field of study can advance significantly without the experiences or knowledge of other fields. As a confined nation would hardly thrive at last, although some stage accomplishment could be attained, to see what occured in China before her reformation, so does the study of a confined realm, the principle of both being the same.

To sum up, in a world that changes as fast as ours, the relationship between different domains become more and more complicated. To advance, any field of study must be open to outsiders, not to a certain group of people, but to all from various fields, to make sure the communication of knowledge and information between domains, which is a way, maybe the only way, for the study to go further.
