Nowadays in our everyday life, we often hear some scandals which attract more of our sights and attention such as Watergate, intelligence gate, Enron ranging from politics, academia, to sports and other areas. Different people have different idea about whether scandals are useful. In my idea, I fundamentally agree with the speaker's claim that scandals are beneficial to expose social problems, though these things themselves are bad. But we should also take account of some negative effects of certain scandals.

To begin with, scandals would attract more sights of the public on the problems which may have been appealed by the reformers and speakers for a long time. As we know, some problems that are common to us usually are neglected regardless of any cautions the speakers or reformers give.  Nevertheless, through scandals which can make great sensation on them, the problems can be emphasized by both the government and the people. Take the collapse of Baring Bank as an example; though the possibility deficiency of bank finance monitor had been put forward about 5 years ago by the professors and researchers, it is not until the scandal of Baring Bank, which was auctioned by one symbolic dollar that people realized the significance of this problem. Therefore, scandals in despite of leading to certain temporal loss would arise the recognition of the public and eventually may contribute to the problems' effective solution.

Secondly, scandals may lead people to know some thing behind the events. For example, usually, we may appreciate the football match and think it is always fair and justice. Some people even some officials would consider that there had not existed any problems of our football matches, for the reason that we had already had qualify into the Word Cup. However, the exposure of black whistle had enforced us to realize the significant problems in our league matches and make us take further steps to castigate corruption. Another example that is good illustration on my idea is about the scandal in academe. It is obvious that no one would realize that the conducts of plagiarism would occur in academe where there is regarded as the original of innovation without a series of science corruption scandals. In fact, scandals in any sections will cause some further scan for their deficiency in a certain extent.

Admittedly, we should not overemphasize the effective function of scandals and created some scandals intentionally. In current society, some people who want to be famous may fall back on fabricating some sensational scandals, especially in entertainment. For example, a girl may fabricate some rumor that she has cohabited with a well-known conductor. By the fame of the famous conductors, the girl attained her aims. After all, certain scandals such as corruption, black whistle would bring about great destroy to our society. Hence, we should improve the scrutiny and try our best to avoid scandals instead of waiting for them come down.

In sum up, Just as an old saying says that anything has two edges. Scandals as a phenomenon of our society have both the effective and the negative facets. In one word, scandals notwithstanding are bad sensations can be useful to some extent.
