      Can scandals in politics, academia, or other areas be useful? The speaker supports this point as it is asserted that scandals can make us concentrate on problems in ways that neither speaker nor reformer ever could. In fact, when it comes to this I fundamentally agree with this point.  

      The first reason that I agree with the statement has to do with that scandals actually can focus our attention to the problems, which we always ignore. For example, there may be some leaders who are selfish and work just for himself and his family members; therefore they will become disrupt. While some speaker or reformer pay no attention to such kind of phenomenon, the scandals can disclose they to people. Consider, for example, in the academia fields, although most scientist devote themselves to their research work, some scientific workers still copy others' data, material, or papers in order to become more popular and get more awards. Only these kinds of things are disclosed to public, can we realize the problems, and just in this way the true deli gent and intelligent scientists can become prominent. And also there are many cases that the scandals have helped the company out of the bankruptcy. As it is illustrated in the case follows. Some chief executive may adopt some measures, which is good for him but not the company; they may sell their share hold illegally. It is obvious that if these kinds of bad deeds are kept from open, it will undermine the development of the company, and necessarily dwindle the profit of the company. Nevertheless, if such scandals are disclosed, the company will focus on the problem, and make appropriate measures to solve it. In sum, the scandals can be useful as it mentioned in the politics, academia, and actually in many other areas.

As the credit is so important in the modern world that everyone, from the individuals to the national leaders, has to pay much attention to his or her credit; therefore, he or she has to try to avert any kind of scandals. So, when it comes to some critical questions he or she would think whether it will make scandal or not. Just as it is illustrated in the case that when an executive in an commercial want to make a measure, which is good for just for himself, once he think that it may lead scandal, he will stop doing it.

     While I generally agree with the statement, there are also some disadvantages scandals may lead to. Sometimes, scandals may distract our attention from the most pressing problems. Just in the field of politics, some people may cheat the nation and people for the interest of himself. If all of the nations concentrate on such kind of problems rather than the construction of civilization of spirit and material, the nation will fall behind as all the attention focus the small aspect of the whole work.

     In sum, in politics, academia, and other fields, scandals can be helpful as it is demonstrated above. We should also treat scandals with detached attitude as when too much attention is directed to the scandals.
