Government funding of the arts threatens the integrity of the arts.

In our daily life ,we are faced with many problems which need careful consideration.When it comes to the view held by the speaker above that the integrity of the arts will be spoiled if government fund the arts,what judgement will you make?Actually,the problem ,in our common life has cause many disputes.It was once claimed on a newspaper that (and I paragraph):“Governments is ruining our arts somehow.”According to me ,I support the speaker’s view in several aspects.
What we should take into consideration,I think, is whether it is necessary for a government to support the arts by fund.We can make a long list of things which our government is expected to provide,e.g.food,shelter,employment,education,medical care,and so on,all of which can be called public health.Although public health is generally viewed as critical to a society’s very survival and therefore an appropriate concern of government, this concern should not extend tenuously to our cultural “health” or well-being.In my observation,philanthropy is alive and well developped.Many philanthropists, rather than our government,are more suitable for the involvement of funding the arts.In a word, government funding should be given to areas in which the funding is necessary for them
Moreover,we do not expect our government to engage itself in certain areas where it is recognized that government intervention is indesirable and inefficient.The arts ,I think,is an area of this kind .We should bear in mind that we are not living in a world where there are inexaustible resources.This is particularly true with our government.Inadequate resources call for restrictions,priorities,and choices.Government,therefore,cannot possibly play an evenhanded role as arts patron.For example,the government of my city these years always tends to reward the artists whose works embody the prosperity of my city,which make it not equil and fair to other artists whose works have the similar or more values in other aspects.In this light,Government should not play a role of patron in the arts.
While I do reject government funding of the arts,I do not mean that government should not involve in the arts.As art is a source of pleasure and relaxation from the stresses of life ,government should take its hand in arts in other ways.For instance,govermant could organize an display of oil paints ,arrange a great opera ,construct an art school to foster future artists,and so on.In the case ,which could make a function of enhancing our mental life.
In sum,the speaker’s point of view is reasonable .Of course ,we also could view the problem in some specific way,such as originality and independence of art .After analyzing all the aspects , I’m sure you will agree with me.
