Competition has become so serious in education systems nowadays.  From primary school to high school, from college to getting PhD, it is everywhere among students.  We want to update our education by taking all kinds of examinations.  Have we learned true value about world? I am doubtful that competition in some way limits the quality of learning.

We are always told about what purpose we should learn, but how we learn is always evaluated by some standards made by tests.  It sounds fair-if we don't have standards for learning; the education systems could not filter the students.  I think the goal of testing is good, which motivates students to learn more and better.  However it tends to tell students to have to study better than others.  If only, they can go to good schools or universities.  This point misleads the students about studying.  I know some post-graduates, who worked so hard and took all kinds of tests, succeeded in learning. But when they are asked to put what they learned into practice, they are so not aware of it.  They were so busy with preparing those exams, ignoring why they had learned so many knowledge.  

My second reason with this assertion is the disadvantage of the competition, especially in education.  Students are easy to be influenced.  Competition would cause the inharmony among the students.  The society wants to create the healthy educational environment for us; in fact, we go to school to learn instead of staying home because we want to learn together by collaboration and encouragement.  The extreme competition will make students selfish about what they learn.  They would not want to share and sacrifice.  I think learning is not only concerned about knowledge of different science, but also how to be a useful person to the society. If students get used to competite each other about knowledge, they will easily lose the major aim of study.  I remember the experience that I tutored a middle school student who was good though.  He would felt disgraced if he was not the first.  Actually it was him not his parents wanted to hire me as the tutor.  I was shocked by this situation.  He did not even give a call to his classmates when he forgot which homework he should do.

The young generation is becoming more and more vulnerable just because the materials they have are more abounding, the information is much more easier to get.  The traditional virtues are challenged by the new views.  With the science and technology developing rapidly, educationists always preach the evolution theory of Darwin, which is survival of the fittest.  But they miss the harmony of the society and the common progress of human.

觉得最后的扯太远了。其实这方面的例子最好找了，举个平时学校的情况或什么。我对题的观点是竞争导致pressure,从而影响了学生的兴趣和运用于实践的能力。
