A fully funded Ph.D. position (starting in the Fall semester of 2024) is available in the Department of Nuclear, Plasma & Radiological Engineering at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, USA (https://npre.illinois.edu/). The successful candidate will work in the Lab of Modeling of Nuclear Materials driven by Dr. Jianqi Xi (jianqixi@illinois.edu) to study the radiation and corrosion degradation of nuclear materials through multiscale modeling approaches.https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=2Lob2F8AAAAJ&hl=en
Requirements:
B.S./M.S. degree in Physics, Materials Science, or Nuclear Engineering
Excellent proficiency in spoken and written English
The selected candidate should be motivated, open-minded, highly dynamic, and capable of working in a team
Other desirable skills:
Experience in molecular dynamics and ab initio codes
Experience in DFT and MD calculations, or/and Machine learning
Programming skills (Python and C++)
Preferred in multiscale modeling (optional)
