PositionDescription

Two PhD graduate researchassistantships are available at the School of Civil, Environmental andInfrastructure Engineering, Southern Illinois University Carbondale. Theassistantship will cover stipend and tuition waiver. The student will work atDr. Jia Liu’s lab (https://engineering.siu.edu/civi ... faculty/liu-jia.php).These two positions will be supported by a project from NSF.

CandidateQualification

Candidates are expected to possess self-motivation, strong organizationalskills, effective communication abilities, and adept problem-solvingcapabilities. Furthermore, candidates are expected to actively contribute to research by publishing theirdiscoveries in reputable peer-reviewed journals and presenting their findingsat regional and national professional conferences. In particular, candidates are strongly encouraged toalign with the following preferences:

·      A Master’s degree bythe date of hire, in environmental engineering, chemical engineering, civilengineering, or a closely related field.  

·      Demonstratedexcellent scientific writing (e.g., peer-reviewed publication, or student competition)and communication skills.

·      Experience and/orcoursework related to fabrication of nanomaterials, water treatment, PFAS, and operationof LC/MS/MS.

·      Ability to workindependently, and occasionally in an outdoor environment, a U.S. drivinglicense is preferred but not required.
