In the age of television, reading books is not as important as it once was. People can learn as much by watching television as they can by reading books.

2 书籍的知识覆盖面远远超过电视；
3 同时，电视也有一些优势，可以让知识更加生动，容易理解；

Along with the development of society, television has taken an important part in our daily life. Some people assert that obtaining knowledge from books is not as significant as it once was because we are in the age of television. In my point of view, although most of us spent a lot of time watching television everyday and also the contents showed by television are diverse, but the function of books can not be supplant.

To begin with, it is beyond doubt that we can learn actively by reading books while passively by watching television. For instance, if I am interested in computer programming then I could obtain the relevant knowledge from books which may be bought in bookstores or borrowed form the library. To contrast, if I want to gain the knowledge from television, I have to find out whether there is any TV program about computer programming and also the information such as the schedule and channel of the program. Therefore, with books we can make learning plans independently, while with television it is determined by the people who manage the television station.

In the second place, the knowledge obtained from television is limited compared with that from books. The primary function of the television is for entertainment which serves as a means to consume people’s leisure time. Admittedly, there are also some TV programs, such as discovery, furnishing the public with useful knowledge, but the quantity of this kind of programs is inadequate and the horizon they cover is not broad enough. For example, if we need some information in a very professional area such as electronics, we could find corresponding books effortlessly but we would never notice any relevant TV program. Consequently, watching television is not always as beneficial as reading books in learning especially you are searching for something special such as expertise.

However, it is admittedly that television brings us a new way to access knowledge. By using the technology of multimedia such as sound, imagine, audio and video, television has made knowledge easier to comprehend as well as more attractive. The effectiveness has been proved by the phenomenon that more and more schools apply television during the process of education in order to help their students comprehend the knowledge profoundly. To some extend, television dose have the ability to make knowledge more vivid compared with books on which there are only black characters on white papers.

To sum up, television, based on the advanced technology, is a modern and special way to learn, but our society can not develop forward without conventional books. Television is of complement rather than substitute. We should not neglect the significance of the book when we benefit from the television.

文章总的来说还可以，语言逻辑也不错。但是论证应该再深入一点，比如说书本对于教授一些抽象方面的东西，比如数学是电视无法替代的
