Issue87 beginner and expect

In any field, both the expert and the beginner are existing in this era and one of the things that fascinates us most about it is the question that whether the beginner or the expert is likely to make important discoveries. As far as I am concerned, I fundamentally concur with speaker's statement above, in that for the sake of novice, beginner possess a great deal of courage.

To begin with, it is the beginner who usually can acquire some unexpectable discoveries. As experts, they tend to be confined by some sophisticated methods, which considerably inhibit them have some new idea or method. Yet, as beginners, they tend to produce some strange and innovative idea for the reason that they have no experience and feel entirely ignorant about how to start their work. For this sake, the only way for them to do is make an attempt. Although the failure is inevitable, the unexpectable result will come forth in this process. Galileo, for example, one of the most colorful scientists in the history, make the distinguished experiment in the Pisa Tow with two ball of different weight, discovering the famous law of free fall. In that age, despite the fact that Galileo is merely such a common person that hardly did anyone believe him. But the result of the experiment dismissed any discredit. If, we may think, it were not for this beginner, people were still living under the illusion that any different ball would fall in the ground taking various time.

In addition, why do the beginners can have some unexpertable result? Another factor of great importance is the courage. Novices can always do anything according their own idea without giving any consideration to the result, no matter bad or good. The failure is also nothing serious for them. Nevertheless, when it comes to the experts, there are a large number of things they feel obliged to concern such as the fame, the reputation and so on. They usually cannot stand on any failure and are not willing to. This truth considerable determines that the chances that novices can make achievement are good while the experts are remote. For example, there is some kind of medicine called 666, which means that this medicine was invented after 665 failures. Another example I would list Edison, who is regarded as the outstanding inventor in the history. After 1000 failure, he eventually invented the lamp. If it were not for these inventors' courage and consistence, how could we have opportunity to use that medicine 666? And how could we get light nowadays? Therefore, here one can easily understand why novice can make some bigger progress than experts.

Last but not least, such is human nature that people tend to take a great deal of interest in something they have never heard. It is this nature determines that beginners can excel in creativity, imagination and devotion to new things and after million failure achieve the attainment.

However, does it means that our world could develop and progress without the existence of the experts? Maybe it is far from being enough. Despite the virtues in the novices, the part that experts are playing should not be neglected. First of all, it is expert who can catch the major point on an issue. It is also the experts who are more familiar with the sphere they are researching. Without the instruction from the experts, the beginner will feel as if they were running in the expansive desert without any direction. Then their chances of being able to make progress are dim. Consequently, in this respect one can see the function and role the experts are playing for novices.

Taking into consideration all the factors above, it is obvious that both the beginner and expert are not only important but also necessary for any field. If, novices and experts can have more cooperation, if they can learn more from each other, they can achieve greater progress, they can have more discoveries, and there will be more miracles in our world, adding color to the monotonous routine of our ordinary living.
