As our society advances, practicality has been put on more and more emphasis. Is practicality now our great idol which all powers and talents must serve and anything that is not obviously practical has little value in today's world, as the speaker asserts? In my point of view, however, I fundamentally disagree with the statement since practicality is not the only standard in evaluating though practicality has more or less some(两个重复了) advantages.
Admittedly, practicality is of greatly(great) importance in our daily lives and work. Anything that is practical would be easily applied into reality according to its purpose. In this sense, practicality has greatly(significantly, remarkably, markedly, tremendously) facilitated the development of society and therefore made people's life more convenient and comfortable than ever before. For instance, light, a very common instrument seen everywhere, has totally changed people's life because of (due to, owing to)its practicality. Yet(转折?意思不是啊) without light, people would have to use candles or other methods for light which are neither efficient nor affordable compared with light. Automobile could serve as another powerful corroboration for this point since with the aid of automobile people have greatly(同上) saved time in communicating and thus greatly(第四个拉) improved and increased(重复) efficiency. To put it more simply, practicality has benefited people both on the development of society and the advancement of individuals.(个人进步?例子似乎都是社会的啊~你想说方便了人民的生活吧 )
However, this is not to say that anything that is obviously no(t) practical has little value for people since its values lie in other aspects instead of practicality. When we retrospect into history(looking back into the history,王丹丹教的 使句式多样化), we might see various instances such as success and failure and so forth(成功和失败的什么例子?). Yet studying history obviously has no nexus with practicality because it is not closely connected with our life and thus could not make life easier and comfortable as cars and lights do. Nevertheless, from another perspective, studying history indeed benefits people very much. From lessons drawn from those social changes, we could learn how to make society more stable and democratic and furthermore, learn to better serve people in order for the prosperity of both nation and society. From learning through the development of science, we could undoubtedly absorb useful knowledge and experience from scientists before, which obviously(apparently, clearly, evidently,注意同义词的运用啊 很多obviously了) could prepare us to better develop science in a rational and logic way. In addition, we could derive the necessary and right attitude toward new hypothesis and theory since believing in authority without any consideration proved to be a great failure and retreat in the history.
Moreover, something that seems to have no practicality now does no mean that it is really useless and unpractical. Some well-known breakthroughs or discoveries indeed has facilitated people hugely later(这两个词我感觉应该换一下位置 好像有歧异) since people at that time did not own sufficient and broad perspective enough to treat those breakthroughs in a just attitude and use it. One needs to look no further than Harvey, a Spanish doctor, who discovered the phenomena of blood circulation. But when he announced this profound discovery, nobody could really understand its great meanings in the development of medicine. In other words(换句话说? 读不通), they considered it useless(trivial, insignificant, petty, fiddling, frivilous) since no practicality lied in it. As time passed by, the famous discovery finally got fair appraise and with its help medicine had advanced a lot and therefore many patients were(gain obtain attain)benefited from it. Accordingly, from this very incidence we could see that to judge values of something according to its practicality is to some extent too arbitrary and unreasonable.
In the final analysis, though practicality has its obvious advantages, we should treat things from a broad perspective in order to fully understand and make best use of it.
论点很清晰 例子也不错 就是词汇需要丰富点 总体不错啊~加油! |
