'An innovative treatment has come to our attention that promises to significantly reduce absenteeism in our schools and workplaces. A study reports that in nearby East Meria, where fish consumption is very high, people visit the doctor only once or twice per year for the treatment of colds. Clearly, eating a substantial amount of fish can prevent colds. Since colds are the reason most frequently given for absences from school and work, we recommend the daily use of Ichthaid, a nutritional supplement derived from fish oil, as a good way to prevent colds and lower absenteeism.'

The author assumes the correlation between the consumption of a substantial amount of fish and less possibility of suffering from colds means that the former is the cause of the latter. However, this is not necessary the case at all. No evidence is given to show that consumption of a variety of fish could lead to immune from colds. It is highly possible that the distinct way of life of people in East Meria that is the sole reason for their less possibility to get colds. Or it is very likely that people there tend to have a distinct kind of diet that is much beneficial to people's immune system to get less suffer from colds.
