Education will be truly effective only when it is specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student.

There is a growing public concern over the issue of whether education should be specifically designed to meet each student's needs and interests. There is not a universal answer to this controversial and complex topic. On balance, I agree that students' interests and needs are crucial for the resultful study despite in practical aspect it is difficult to meet each student's needs.

Common sense tells us education should be reinforced from the childhood, then how to cultivate a mischievous child? Different parents have different ways to bring up their children. Why do not we have a look at the old thinkers' answer; as the ancient Greek philosopher Plato once said (and I paraphrase):"Let early education be a sort of an amusement; you will then be better able to find out the natural bent." This illustrates the point that the purpose of the early education is to discover the child's natural bent with an entertaining way which should inspire the child's interest and discover the unique potential each child holds, cultivate unique personality each child possesses.

Simply put, without specifically designed way, we would find educating the children bogged down, since children are so naughty that they can use the very weapon called crying to resist any education which they are not interested in. In this way, we have nothing to do but give up the attempt to teach the knowledge. But as we know, education, the huge mold if the youth is taken as melting iron, which is a prediction of a country's future, should not been ceased. So it is not the fault of the education but the way we use to educate the child. Therefore we should design the courses accordingly to the learners’ interests, thus making the truly effective education to fruition.

For a college or university students, education should also be specifically designed for students in order to allow the learners more effectively assimilate the masses of new information and knowledge that have come out of research and have been widely disseminated through mass global media. The distinguished scientist Albert Einstein once illustrated this brilliantly in the following quotes: “Interests are our best teachers". Without interests we may not effectively learn anything. A recent survey conducted at University of California Berkeley by education experts reveals that 62.1% of the students are agreed that they would have better academic perform if they are interested in the area of the study.

Admittedly, there is no denying that education should be designed to meet the social standards and needs. For example, some students may be not interested in mathematics which would be important for reasoning thinking. Can we allow them not to study this subject? The answer is clear since reasoning thinking is indispensable to formulate a thoughtful man. However, even in this way, what we should do is to teach them basic skills in mathematics to formulate the thinking system and should never force them to learn the sophisticated area of the mathematics.

Cactus will thrive in scorching place, while reed needs plenty of water. Just like various conditions that different kinds of plants require to grow well, education will be truly effective only when it is specifically designed to meet the individual interests and needs.
