In the rapid advancing world nowadays, globalization is becoming an inevitable trend. People from different countries tend to have increasing communication, which proposes a new requirement for the language sharing by the whole world. Simultaneously, the languages used by small groups of people are facing the problem of extinction. In my point of view, if the lesser-known languages hamper the development of the countries, it is wise for the governments to pay more attention to the progress of the countries rather than the protection of the languages.  

To begin with, as the globalization, the lesser-known languages do encounter the trend that they are used by fewer and fewer people. With the progress of the science and technology, people in the contemporary era are able to travel to nearly everywhere of the world. Meanwhile, through mass media, different nations get to know the cultures of other nations easily. Thus, diversity among each country is becoming less and less, including the languages. Many kinds of languages have absorbed and assimilated a lot from other sorts of languages, such as the English words: potato, Kongfu, wine, cup, tobacco, tsunami and cliché. When it comes to other languages, it is the same. However, English is a language shared by the world, the more words it absorbs, the more popular it becomes while other languages that are used by a few people, the more the languages absorb from outside, the fewer characteristics they remain for themselves. In a word, many less-known languages do have the problem of becoming extinct.

In the second place, the government of these countries should focus their attention on the economy development rather than the protection of the languages. It is known to all that the languages are the barrier for the people to communicate and for the countries to develop their economy. For instance, many small villages in China, which are isolated to the outside world, cannot develop their economy in an efficient way and cannot break through the poverty level. As the earth is becoming smaller and smaller, different countries are not individuals any longer, they should depend on each other to guarantee a long time development and well-being. A country stick to itself cannot enjoy a sustainable development. At this moment, he government should put down the narrow patriotism and keep an open mind to conform/submit to the trend of the globalization, encouraging people to learn the generally speaking languages and use them as the tools to promote the economy of the country.

Referring to the globalization, it is still not the high time to integrate the people throughout the world to share everything. People from different countries need time to get more acquainted to each other. Although in the moral aspect, people should protect their own national languages, when the day of globalization comes, the government of every country still should conform to the trend. After all, it is not promoted to emphasize the patriotism at the expense of the economy development and the well-being of the country. On the other hand, if the globalization is the destiny, the languages of the countries are not considered as important as before, actually.

To sum up, the governments should make it clear what is more important for their country. Facing the trend of globalization, the governments of different countries should put aside the narrow patriotism and devote to the development of the economy and promotion of the living level of the people.
