Is it justifiable to attain a goal by any means as long as the goal is worthy? To some extent, I agree with the assertion that it is just to try one's best to attain his or her own aims, nevertheless, I still harbor a notion that whether the goal is worthy depends on the different situations, which determine that whether we should realize the goal by all means.

Naturally, everyone has his own dream and would like to realize it. No matter in what field, such as athletic, scientific, artistic and social fields, a goal functions as an impetus to improve the whole filed to be more advanced and make more benefits to human beings. Hardly have I forgotten the 3000-meter race that I participated in our city sports meeting. I even clearly remembered the excitement when I crossed the finishing line at the first place. However, I would also not forget the whole course of the struggling for the gold medal, which costs me five months to take on the unimaginably tough training. Another compelling example involves the great inventor Tomas Edison. He at least knew 1000 wrong ways to generate the bulb before his success, which also demonstrate that when we set a commendable goal for ourselves, we should take pains to actualize it.

However, at every turn, in some fields, especially the economy field, to pursue a so-called worthy goal, which seems to be justifiable, may lead to unexpected consequences. Consider, for instance, the Mali factory, a large factory which manufactures the office products, such as paper, pens and pins. For a factory, the most main goal is to maximum its profits and to satisfy the people’s need, which no one would like to deny the view. Nonetheless, if the factory involves in indulgent deforestation for the sake of the increasing the number of products, could we still regard it to be justifiable that the factory should augment their products at the expense of the environment? What is more, never will we feel novel when we hear about the news on economical crimes. Indeed, that people pursue more money in order to improve their life is the human nature and propels the human development. But when people become slaves of the money, the pursuit of money undoubtedly become utterly worthless.

In fact, the focus of the issue whether we should attain the goal by any means is to detect whether the goal is permanently worthy in any circumstance. For example, government should save the endangered species of animals or plants in order to keep our environment balance. But when some immediate existing social problems such as hungry, crimes and poverty, to a large scale, hamper the society from developing or even become potential hazard for a society, shall we still spare no effort to save every endangered species at any expense----money and time? Thus, a goal is not always worthy to achieve and it changes as the time, space and situations change. When we are on the way to the aim, we should account for the cost and benefits the goal would bring to us at every time, which may help us to be more effective to weigh the competing interests.

In conclusion, a worthy goal deserves our extraordinary endeavors to accomplish; however, we should make sure that the goal is truly worthy and valuable in that specific circumstance.
