In the process of realizing a new idea, people may choice different ways. And usually the most efficient way is to experience the idea in the real life. After that, ideas could be well evaluated their values, that is, good ideas is to be insisted on and bad ideas thrown out or improved. By being forced to defend an idea against the doubts and contrasting views of others should not be a good choice in discovering the value of that idea.

To be the most important, in scientific fields, when a new idea or a new theory is made by someone, more scientific researchers would be willing to know whether the new idea is right or not. So, the most direct and efficient way is to realize the theory through an experiment by others. There is an old saying: theory comes from practice. On the contrary, long ago before the modern science was born, religions rule the whole society including people's material life and mental world. Science then is just some so-called theory brought forward by some so-called great man such as Aristotle, though they did devote some good ones to modern science. Since the new ideas were brought forward, the religions think them as a tool of their government and such people do their most to defend this idea against those doubts from others. However, they did overlook the importance of practice in the examination of the new theory. Just as we now know that earth is not the centre of universe and nor do the sun, while in those religion-governed times such facts that earth is the very centre of universe is well supported and should not be doubted.

Secondly, although the value of a new idea could be discovered by contrasting views of others, it is entirely possible that all the views are restricted by the low understanding of the real world. And common sense informs us that through comparing what find are usually the flaws of the ideAs other than the values. So, we can say contrasting views of others is truly a effective way to exam new ideas and to better them but not the only way to discover their values. For examples, in the process of inventing the electrical light, Edison was confronted with a big problem about the material composition of the filament of lights. Every time he found a better one the most urgent thing for him is to find a even better one to replace the former. And through hundreds of tries, he found a best one finally considering every respects of it.  Facts such as this have well proved old saying: practice is the only standard in the examination of theories.

Admittedly, when that idea is just sound as it well reflects the truth, insisting on defend that idea should be considered as wisdom and be praised as a kind of belief in truth. In such situations, time will finally prove their rightness. So to speak, when the idea that earth is the centre of the universe is so popular, those who insisted their idea that neither sun nor earth is not the centre of the universe are our models.

The main point, ,in my opinion ,exists valuable debates among different ideas and views. Maybe they have their own advantages and illustrate phenomenon well to some extent.
