题目：It is impossible for an effective polictical leader to tell the truth all the time, Complete honesty is not a useful virtue for a politician.



     It comes to me an agreement that an effective politicial leader should not tell the truth all the time, depending what he is engaged in and whom he is passing information to. You may argue that an political leader, who firstly acts as a model to the people, must be a conglomerate of good virtues including being honesty, and that only man of honesty is to make the crowd have a belief in him. However it is true that virtue of honesty is needed for an effective political leader bearing the responsibility of the electorate for commitment and being trusted, but in fact, no always. Of course a leader of honesty who we can believe what he says without percolating is somewhat leader we would prefer inwards, and we certainly will fell certainly more safe than in the leadership of a falsidical man worrying about what will really happen following what he has foresweared. But complete and discriminate honesty is just a excess virtue leading to a reverse way, which may cause the governance dysfunctional, disaster, or lose in war. Honesty is just like delicious food, which we like but can not eat too much to keep our stomach comfortable.


     Sometimes a political leader may tell proper lies to make the governance work smoothly, for instance, during war a very important and secret strategetic tactic is proposed to give the enemy a sudden strike, and a spectacular movement of army will occur. In this case, all the leaders must keep quiet about the secret, and to occult the the true intend that another mission is to carried out would be spread out in order to cast a smoke on the enemy. A complete honest, in fact foolish, leader may cause the plan interrupted and aborted. Not only in the unusual time during the war, but also nowadays, the politics is a complex of honesty and special lies. For example, when scheduled flight come across a blizzard and delayed, and no signal could be receiced from the plane, indicating that the travel quite propably had surrendered a disaster. However the duty of the political leader was to stand out and make the mass trust that the airplane was safe and had landed in somewhere only without the signals, trying to calm the people. The words that how possible that the staff have had their lives threatened would undoubtedly and instantly throw the nation in horror.
  

      Also political leader would kiss baby during the election propaganda even if he dislike that baby very much, and he would exert quite good manners, even if he did not think that was not his way, and he would say he liked everyone in front of him, even if someone had ever been impolite to him somewhere else. Too honest words may lead the man to the position vulnerable and embarrassed. This is the situation, where one, if he want to gain the support from the voter and win the poll, must exert his intelligence to find out what he should say, not exactly what he really know and feel.


         Of course, a political leader who avail himself of the power and deceive the electorate should be punished and pushed aside. In the field concerning the interest of the public, e.g. economics, political leaders should be thoroughly honest in order to make the mass complete aware of the situation. If people want to know that environment for investigation is improved or not, or the relationship with other country is safe enough for travel, then there is no doubt that the leader should offer the exact answer. That how the money form the taxpayer is spent should also be reported to them fully according to the fact. Lying will break down the basis for the leader’s leadership and rules should play their role in barring the leaders from misprision and autocracy.


       Here comes to a conclusion that though honesty is a virtue of mankind, a complete honesty is imbecile for a political leader who should be strategic required from the nature of politicians. Political leaders should know when then should be honest, and when not depending the different situations.
