Professor Yanliang Zhang’slab at the University of Notre Dame (A top 18 University in US) has multiple PhD student opening positions. Themission of our lab is to develop advanced materials and manufacturing methodsin order to address major societal challenges in sustainable energy andprecision health. We are working on cutting-edge research topics on multi-materialsadditive manufacturing, energy harvesting and sensing, and wearable/implantable devices for precisionhealth.Our lab's groundbreaking researchhas been published in top journals including Nature, Advanced Materials, Energy &Environmental Science, Chemical Society Reviews, etc. Our research is multidisciplinary in nature, and wewelcome students of all engineering and science majors to apply. Thestudents have the opportunity to receive a PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering,and also a PhD degree in MaterialsScience and Engineering if they participate in the MSE PhD program.Interested applicants should send resume toProf. Zhang by email: yzhang45@nd.edu. Professor Zhang is the AdvancedMaterials and Manufacturing Collegiate Chair, and a Tenured Associate Professor. Heis a recipient of the prestigious National Science Foundation Career Award, andYoung Investigator Award from International Thermoelectric Society. The missionof Professor Zhang’s lab is to create revolutionary materials and manufacturingmethods in order to improve energy and environmental sustainability andindividual health and wellbeing by addressing grand challenges our society isfacing. To do so, we have established a transformative nanoscale-to-macroscaleengineering approach that synergistically integrates fundamental and appliedresearch programs into a coherent effort.
