Issue159      The human mind will always be superior to machines because machines are only tools of human minds.

In retrospect of machine history, we can see a huge progress has been experience by machines. But they can not escape from being as tools of human minds. Therefore, I agree with the speaker's assertion within a period extent. While I can not predict the unforeseeable world.

At the beginning, the reason why I believe human minds are superior to machines is that human can transcend machine in three crucial factors.

Firstly, machines can not make self-improvement as what human does intrinsically. The progresses of modern machines are limited by their God--human. For example, without people's endeavor on research and design of computer hardwares, they can by no means keep transforming from 286 to 586. Meanwhile, human, as a winner in natural selection, can not only make individual progress, but as a whole, its evolution are also undergoing by generation without stopping.  The cognition and  thinking abilities are far more advanced than our ancestors in barbarous society.   

Secondly, the flexibility is human's another merit which is unreasonable to require machines to accessing to. Under different condition can human change their mind and schedule to adjust to the environment, while machines are more rigid and stubborn when facing changes. The relationship between machine and human can serve as a conspicuous example to illustrate the difference. When driving an automobile for the first time, one has to learn how to control it, how to manipulate it to turn right or left when encountering an obstacle. Whereas automobile can not make the decision and alteration by themselves once situation varies.

Thirdly, no machine can be touched with tears running down as the views in cinema since they are free of emotional capture, in another word, their absence of "the right brain" deprives the right and capability to thinking in sensation.

In addition, even though we count for the strengths of machines, most of them are all within human's ability. It means, what machines can do can probably be mastered by human-being. One may argue that the fast process of complicated calculation by computer, but can you assure that man can not achieve the final result in enough time period?  With the initial information and approach to run the calculation, both man and machine can reach the same  summit.

Admittedly,  the current situation and a trend of development can ensure us that human minds are superior to machines as what I explained above, however the long-distance future is beyond our grasp since everything can happen in the future. If human design a counterpart according to its own gene and thinking system, if machines can evolve and update by themselves through a mechanism developed by human, if emotional mystery are disinterred by researchers who urge machine to laugh or cry even fall in love with another machine, the world will be out of imagination. Then it is hard to confirm human's ever-lasting superiority to machines.

In sum, human can feel free to stay in the position of the controller of machines nowadays and in a near future. But whether the relationship remains in the far future is unpredictable.
