------题目------
41。Such nonmainstream areas of inquiry as astrology, fortune-telling, and psychic and paranormal pursuits play a vital role in society by satisfying human needs that are not addressed by mainstream science.
------正文------
Debate on the role such non-mainstream areas as astrology, fortune-telling and psychic and paranormal play in the society have long been discussed. As Hegel said, "Whatever existed is reasonable." Such inquiries are without exception. 【Nonmainstream sciences, such as ……., have been long existed in our society.】It is undeniable that they to some extent help to satisfy human needs that could not be satisfied by current science. However, the role they play is far from vital and even harmful.【开头显得太迂回了,不够简洁明了哦】
First, we have to admit the benefits of inquiry on such non-mainstream areas as astrology, fortune-telling and psychic or spiritual research. 【Firstly, the advantage of …. is obvious. 】In retrospect of history, we can clearly see that curiosity is an inborn character of us human beings. When faced with new, unknown, or unexplainable phenomenon, we humans are always driven by our curiosity to try finding out the answers. In such kinds of situations【 in such situations 】,when mainstream science【 s 】 could not help, 【it is human’s psychological inclination that 】we tend to borrow【 rely on the 】 support from non-mainstream areas of inquiry. Besides, human beings also share the common desire to predict the future. The feeling of uncertainty 【直接用uncertainty就行 】often makes people feel fear and nervous, and they are naturally afraid of making any bad decisions that may affect their future even destiny. 【这句什么意思哦,没看懂。。。。】These are 【the reasons 】why fortune-telling, though disputed by generations, now still exist in most parts of the world. To say from these aspects【 In this aspect】, such non-mainstream inquiry actually play as an effective understudy for mainstream science.
However, besides what mentioned above, we are hard-pressed to find any other evidences showing the indispensability of such inquiries to the society. Looking back into【重复了,换一个:although history,】 the history of society progress, we can clearly identify the important impetus mainstream science has produced to every breakthrough: the invention of steam engine directly brought about the famous industrial revolution; the discovery of electricity fundamentally changed our life; the prevailing of Internet provides us quite new life style. While, in all the contributions, we could find little done by such non-mainstream inquiry as fortune-telling, psychic and paranormal pursuits, which almost remain the same since their rollout long times ago.
【这段说得和段中心句的意思相反了呢。】
Further, overdue accenting on belief in these non-mainstream areas of inquiry may cause negative or even disastrous results to the society. Since such kinds of inquiry are almost unreasonable an illogical【????】, they are likely to become the tools of swindlers to fool people or even be used by the rulers as the spiritual weapons to realize their despotism【used by the absolutists to control the public minds and violate the nature of democracy.】. Chinese history is replete with such examples. Especially in the feudal age, not to say that the monarchs all claimed themselves as the sons of dragon--a kind of deiform animal respected by ancient chinese, to maintain their ruling, even those rebels also used to turn to such non-mainstream inquiry, say astrology, to borrow support to justify their deity for ruling. Besides, too much belief in fortune-telling and psychic power may to one extreme lead to a person's idleness of just waiting for future fortune without making efforts to achieve it, and to the other extreme eviscerate a person's passion to improve his life and make him pessimistic towards the future. Evidently, either of these results is beneficial for a person's healthy living and developing, neither of which is what we are willing to see.
Therefore, to sum up, under the presumption of admitting their value and benefits to the society in a limited extent, we should also be alert of all the possible bad effects they may bring about and thus hold a objective attitude towards them.
【嗯,我觉得文章意思还是挺清晰的,因为考完了刚好可以给你细细看看语言层面所以着重给你改了b1段,别看我改了很多,总体来说你写得还是挺好的哦,加油啊!】 |
