Hi ******,

Thanks for trusting me to say something over your resume. If I were you, I would apply BE instead of BME. You would get lots of offer if you apply BE and may not much if you apply BME. Of course you can try both BE and BME, but the major issue for you right now is the VISA. It will be a lot easier for you to get the VISA if you apply BE because you can tell the VO that you wanna contribute to our motherland's crop engineering and come back to help China on food technology. That's the most important thing. BME is difficult to get VISA, maybe easier in Shanghai, but the VO will reject you if you apply BME in beijing cause you have strong "yi min qing xiang".

If you agreed to apply BE, it's actually better for you coz you can work in companies here or research in USA. You will not have much opportunity to go to medicial school to carry on your BME even if you are AD by some schools. In short, BE has more opportunities for you and more flexibility for you to go up and down. The important thing in a major is you can go up and down with that. Even if you didn't do very well or not very lucky on some occasions, you still be able to do something in that field! And that 'something' is actually quite promising in BE.

If you agree with BE, I recommed Oregon State University to you. You will get the offer and it's a very good school for food & crop engineering. You will get the VISA also if you apply this school becose you can say a lot of good things to the VO.

I'll say this much at this stage. You will know what I have said above sound seemingly not very exciting but can turn out to be a good choice for you. I know somebody from OSU did his PhD on tomato engineerning and later go on to do diabetics research in U. of Maryland, Baltimore. There's a lot of flexibility in BE and don't think BME is the only thing you want.

Your tests are great but not highly exceptional, therefore you are very likely to be rejected by schools like UC Berkeley and Rice, but again I recommed OSU--it's a great school for you to get the things you want in your life. You don't have to be great for a start, but you can be great if you know the track that less travled on, the so-called "zuan kong zi".

Thank you:) I was born in Harbin. Great to know everybody here=) I am also applying for graduate school now but I am not sure what I wanna do yet, probably neuroscience

I agree with Iris.  I have a B.S. in BME.  Most of the students in my dept. were going to Medical School.  There's really nothing to do with BME unless you get a Ph.D.
