Are facts altered by our wishes,our inclinatons,or the dictates of our passions? Before answering this question , we need to make sure the definition of the word ”fact”. In my opinion, fact means the things has happened, are happening now or will happen in future. I agree that the facts happened before can not be altered by the passion of people ,however the other kinds of facts which are happening now and will happen in future are inferred by the activity of the people ,to some extent.
The facts happened ago are surely stubborn thing, for the reason that they are written in the history or the memory of the people forever with no change. Even we have any negative passion, such as regret or mourn, the things have never changed by these. “The words said out will spread in the air”. This famous wisdom shows that any thing once happened none one can take them back. If we missed a chance, the chance we meet again will never be the same one. If the family leave the world , the missing can not bring them back. If a construction or building was damaged, it will never reappear in the world. Even we have known the absurdity and cruelty of war, the people who lost life can not breath the air again.
Another kind of facts that are happening now is a dynamic not a static thing. It could be impacted by different aspects of different factors and also by different people in different areas. The stupid student can get the good score in the exam by his hard work. And cosmetology can alter the visage of people .Any thing are decided by two factors, the outside factor and the inside factor. Even we have no effect to change the fact has happened, the facts now can be controlled by us through the outside factor ,such as technology and the inside factor ,industry of people.
The future fact is also impacted by the activity of the people to much extent. “The future is not decided yet. ”before the future becoming the yesterday, not any thing is made sure. There are still chances existing around us to change the world , the life or the work if we are dissatisfied to them.
In sum, I partly agree with the author’s claim . The facts has happened can not be altered by our wishes, our inclinations, or the dictates of our passions. However, it does not mean the activity of people make no effect on the facts. oppositely, the facts now and future are decided by the work and the passion of people to much extent.
