136. The absence of choice is a circumstance that is very, very rare.

Since the time human beings are given to birth, a deluge of choices that lead humans to various circumstances fulfill the life. To be wealth or starve, to be happy or sad, to give contribution or destroy the world... All the emotions and the behaviors are based on different choices. Not only the individuals but also the social entities and even the societies confront a diverse array of choices. Empirical experiences give the rational that there is rarely a situation without any choice.

It is the choice that gives individuals’ different knowledge, techniques, aesthetical judgments, aims of life, life-styles, beliefs, values, and even personalities. Admittedly, humans cannot choose their parents, but they can choose which type of parents to be. When given to birth, different individuals face different environment, different nations, and different economic and political actualities. Since the world never stop changing, people could change their life by different choices whatever the circumstances they have ever experienced. Hard-workers achieve marvelous accomplishments by studying industry and definite goals, while time-consumers damage their light future by delaying tasks and unawareness of ideals.

Not only the material world but also the spiritual field can even be reversed by individual choices. Admittedly, everyone is constructed by genies given by the ancestors, and to some degree, they decide the personality. However, that does not mean that personal volition could deal little with it. People carve themselves by reading books on the figures they want to be, communicating with those who are admired by them, and behaving in the way the belief sheds light on. The effective functions people served themselves by making choices cannot be ignored.

Furthermore, the choice does not only fall in the scope of individuals. All the social entities--governments, enterprises, universities, etc.--make their choices. Take the development of the companies as a case in point, all the faculty are engaged in a variety of choices that the engineers determine which kind of machines to utilize, that the executives decide how to administrate the personnel, and that the presidents choose which market they should participate in. The actuality of the promotion of the enterprises is that the choices to optimize materials and human resources. Different choices contribute to diverse functions and meanings to different social entities.

In addition, the choices make tremendous effort to the improvement of the societies by numerous people. The societies whether capitalism or socialism are emblematized by their own attributes such as technologies, policies, laws, regions, and cultures and customs. The heterogeneities mirror the different choice by different nations and times.

As oxygen to humans, the choice is such significant and rarely absent from humans' life. It is the choice that leads the individual different life, the social entities different functions, and the societies different styles and inclinations of the development.
