------正文------  577 words
When we open the history books, we see a lot of famous name, Cesar, Shakespeare, Washington, Einstein, and so on.  In my opinion, the study of history pays too much attention to individuals.  I consider that the most significant events and trends in history were not only made by some celebrities, but also by common people whose names may have been forgotten.

Of course, history materials are able to record only a few famous names, because there were so many people being have lived that it is impossible to remember each names.  In China, the twenty-five Former Histories of every dynasty are all biographies of famous person.  When we learn the significant events and trends in Chinese history, we must learn these celebrities first.  It is one of the methods of history research.

Some great individuals had long-range eyesight, deep thinking or charisma.  At the intersection of history, they could point out the right way, and lead others to walk on it.  In this extent, the significant events and trends of history were made by these elites.  For example, at the beginning of the twentieth century, the Tsing Dynasty of China seemed to collapse soon.  But which direction should China go? Despotism or Democracy?  At that time, Mr. Sun Yixian, who we called the father of China now, advocated democracy and freedom, and built up some organizations to prepare the revolution.  In 1911, the Xinhai Revolution was brought out, and as the result, the Republic of China was set up.  This revolution is one of the three most significant events of China in last century.  If one want to understand this event, he or she must place much emphasis on Mr. Sun first.

On the other hand, people cannot forget the common persons in history, although whose identities have been forgotten.  These persons also play a vital role in history.  The power of an individual is limited, and one celebrity is not able to do any great thing without others' efforts.  Let us look back at China again.  At the moment of the first fight of Xinhai Revolution, Mr. Sun still hid in Hawaii to escape manhunt from Tsing Dynasty.  In fact, some soldiers themselves, who could not stand the press of the dynasty any more, broke out the first fight of the revolution.  Even until the temporary democratic government was founded, Mr. Sun did not know the message of the revolution.  The revolution was only directed by the theory of Mr. Sun, but not made by Mr. Sun.  The real main power of China revolution is the common soldiers, workers and presents.  Though nowadays people cannot remember their names, their efforts must not be forgotten.  In the history books, they should have more positions.

However, in the realms of science and art, the most important discoveries, inventions and compositions can be made by single elite.  But there is still many significant events were made by groups of people whose identities have been forgotten.  The Four Greatest Inventions in ancient China ------ gun powder, compass, paper and type printing, which change the history of the whole world, were all made by common people.  Someone would say paper was invented by Cai Lun, but actually he just improved the productive technique.

In sum, since the most significant events and trends were made both the famous few and the common people, the study of history should place enough emphasis on common persons, although their names do not been remembered.
