前半句，expense cannot be the numbered，说明expense不算多，所以后半句选economy，相呼应。既然说花消（负面因素）根本算不上什么，那么肯定是defects。

defect作何解释呀，应该是缺点，不足之处，对吗? 既然expense cannot be the numbered，说明expense不算多，就应该是好处呀，怎么是缺点呢？

这道我也做错了，同求教。expense cannot be the numbered，我理解的是钱花得太多了

expense cannot be numbered:理解为可以被忽略不计的,numbered不要理解偏了.

Oops! 我觉得can't be numbered 是指：can't be counted (i.e. much)

The answer is D. thoughtful.
The reason why those who disagreed Carmne's views rarely faulted her is that the positions she took were very thoughtful and, equally, very controvesial.

一开始题目中的第二个as我理解错了,这里应该是不平行结构第二个as理解为
though.
