王尔德的妙人妙语

     今年秋天，王尔德塑像在英国揭幕：他从地底下探出头来，微笑着，意味深长地看着这个世界。

　　王尔德(Oscar Wild)，生于1856年。英国著名作家，人称唯美主义派，也有人称颓废派，他自己说，他把世间所能享受的快乐，差不多都享受到了。惊世骇俗，我行我素，他的生活方式超然于当时道德之外。在牛津结识道格拉斯，1895年，王尔德因为和道格拉斯的同性恋关系被判入狱两年。

　　道格拉斯的父亲，君斯伯里侯爵，写信叫儿子离开王尔德，不料道格拉斯回了一封讽刺的信。侯爵一怒之下，控告王尔德风化罪，但法庭裁定罪名不成立。道格拉斯却一心想把他父亲送进监狱，于是怂恿王尔德反控侯爵诽谤。这一次，主流社会没有放过王尔德。

　　在狱中作《狱中记》。1897年出狱去法国，1900年卒于巴黎。

　　进牛津，进监狱，是他一生两大关键，他说。

　　下面是王尔德说过的一些"妙人妙语"。

The public is wonderfully tolerant --it forgives everything except genius.

世人宽大为怀--除了天才之外，他们什么都宽恕。
