4.Book Knowledge and Experience
Knowledge can be acquired from many sources, including books, teachers and practical experience. Each has many advantages. Depending on personal experience, personality type and emotional concern, some people hold the idea that experience is more essential than books; on the other hand, some people might believe the importance of books instead. However, from my point of view, I will agree the later one is more reasonable and my arguments are listed as follows.
First, the knowledge we gain from books is the conclusion of formal people’s experience. By reading books, we can learn from the past. In this way, we will never repeat the mistakes of others and can build on their achievements.
Another reason of my propensity is that people can improve their skills by books efficiently. From the books, we can study all the places in the world and learn from people we will never meet in our lifetime. Besides these, the knowledge enables us to learn about things that we have no opportunity to practice in our daily life.
Although I agree that there may be a couple of advantages of experimentation, I feel that the disadvantages are more obvious, for example, the knowledge by acting is limited while the knowledge from books is endless. Taking account of all these factors and recognizing the fact, to be frank, I would like to choose acquiring knowledge by reading books as my best choice.
To sum up, given those sagacious reasons, which are discussed above, I strongly commit to the notion that acquiring knowledge from books is more invisible.
1. Why people attend college or university?
Nowadays, with the development of the world, more and more students go to the college for further study after graduating from the high school. In my opinion, there are many advantages to have a college or university education.
First, students have ample opportunity to explore a variety of interests, increase both their general and specific knowledge. When we study in high schools, we are always forced to study some subjects which we are not really interested in. After we attend the college, we can devote ourselves to what we are fond of.
Next, students prepare for a chosen career during the study of college education. Almost every graduated student has to compete for a job, and most wish to be considered well educated. They must be able to compete in a very aggressive job market. Therefore, a practical education is very important. In college, all students want to increase their knowledge that is relevant to their future careers.
Finally and most importantly, through the education, students can develop independence. The moment we were born, we began to live, work and study with our parents. A great number of students haven’t left their parents before they enter the university. And most of the parents have their children at heart at all times. For example, there are lots of parents to take place of the children to determine which school children want to attend. As a result, the children absolutely rely on their parents. But when students go to college for study, they have to face everything but themselves, and they should learn to make their own decisions like adults. After the graduation, almost all the college students become independent.
The world has changed a great deal since universities were established. Colleges and universities are still wonderful places for acquiring broad knowledge and for personal development.
