Should parents and communities be involved in the local schools? I agree with the position that both parents and communities should do something to the local education. Although I admit that professional educators as teachers and advisers in schools is a very important part of education, the function of the parents and communities is so crucial that it can not be ignored.

As students are components of the communities, the environment, include parents and all the communities, will take significant effect to the students. Compare to studying in schools, students share much more time with their parents and neighbors, who is much more familiar to the students than the teachers. In the younglings' opinion, parents are more reliable and believable, so that children are expected to accept more ideas from their parents. And this is why a lot of students hate to go to school while only a few of them do not want back to home. Similarly, communities also have advantages in education compare to the teachers.

Furthermore, there are a number of things, such as ethical and moral standards, that is hard to get from school but from the communities. As it is known to all, the simplest and most primary way for a person to learn from others is imitation which is also the major way for a young man. And the objects students imitate are just the ones among them, who are their parents and the whole communities. By this way, parents can teach their children how to maintain an ethical and moral standards, how to respect the elders, how to take care of the younger ones and so forth. All these cannot be done by reading books or given lectures by teachers. It is sometimes said that the parents are the best teachers, and the function of parents and communities cannot be simply taken place by the teachers in schools.

However, the function of the professional educators is also indispensable. Overstate the requirement for parents and communities may lead to overlook the importance of the educators who help to bring a high efficient education to the students. Teachers set the curriculum to meet the need of the children and organize the resources to give students a comfortable learning environment. Today's high developed civilization is "stands on the shoulders of giants", and the teacher is just the one take us to the giants. And the educators have professional opinions about the social requirement and the future development trend with which they can decide what the students should study and what should not. This will save many of the education resources and raise the efficiency, which is also one of the reasons that why the educators cannot be taken place by others.

To sum up, both parents and communities should be involved in the local schools because their function is indispensable in education, while the importance of the professional educators should not be ignored. It calls for a balance to give a better education to the students between focus on the need for the communities and the teachers.
