Issue 47 "Society does not place enough emphasis on the intellect-that is, on reasoning and other cognitive skills"

In this thesis, the writer believed that our society does not pay much attention on the intellect training as the education of reasoning and other cognitive skills. I agree with this issue. In my opinion, the intellect training with the great interests carried by, should be promoted in a higher emphasis for the civics maximized benefit. My reasons are as following:

Admittedly, intellect is very important for both the whole society and each of its individual. Firstly, in the modern society, with the advanced high technique and scientific development, intelligence play a much more important role than before. As the high effect production is mainly based on the promotion of advanced technique, industry requests high-educated employees. In serving fields, well-trained professors are severely commanded. For specific professional fields, as Clinic medicine or biopharmacology, the doctors are always the favor-pet in labor market. Different countries draw much of their budget on research and advanced education. In China, lots of money is injected in University dilation. Deng Xiaoping, the former Chairman of China claimed, "Intellect is the first class productivity". In short, the intellects, as they stand for the effective modern production, are popular in whole society. Secondly, for each individual, the reasoning and cognitive skill is even more important. As in modern psychology, researchers told us: cognition is the important step in one’s insight. And by reasoning, people learn to think with their own mind. Both of those two can help an individual open his eye and recognize the value of a individual thinking and the meaning of a “real” free will.

However, it is quite an upset fact, as our society doesn’t place enough emphasis on intellect to match it importance. On one hand, our government put lots funding and emphasis on the income of high technique equipments, and there are lots of money is spent on the operator training. In another way, the most important part inside, the education for reasoning minds is ignored. Some government officers believe the illusion that the reasoning and cognitive thinking will destroy the social stable. And for them, the investigation on equipments service is enough. By question and reasoning, one will see some unfair which they did not recognize before. And those reasoning would harm the social harmony. However, the fact is opposite: the promotion on the reasoning and cognitive ability for each civvies would promote the social harmony. Those who blind won't complain their surrounding, but those eyes were just opened, might cry for their dark life. But most of the time, explorers enjoyed the finding of every new vision in progress of finding the light. And that is the case in China: in the first period, some one might complain some social unfair. There might be some social wave by questioning or reasoning in the short period, but in the long term, those reasoning can be the push of social promotion. Further more, with an individual mind, public can judge what is proper and correct for them. In another way, reasoning skills help one to find the disadvantage of society and cognitive skills help one avoid blind following. The former skill can help society to correct its bugs and keep on updating while the later one can help the public keep clam before instigation and misleading. Thus, our government should put more attention on the education of an independent thinker rather than some objects. A first-Class supplied lab can be settled in years with enough funding invested and best establishment imported. But a first class lab need much further than those objects only--- a great mind might need decades to raise, a discovery might need a century to find and a inspirit intellect culture will request centuries to persist. Thus, are real fundamental essences of a first class lab. Compared with the great energy put on the establishment, it is wiser of our government can promote a reasoning and cognitive skills.
                 
In another way, with enough attention on the intellect training, we should also pay attention on other affairs. As for an individual, one should not be called as a completely mature if that person is training only in his mind. The physical training as well as the psychological training is all commanded in one’s education. As for a country, the unbalance development will always regard as dangerous. A nation with only idealized cognition and questioning can not win in the international competition. However, luckily enough, the cognitive and reasoning training itself prevent such case, as avoiding absolutism is the basic attitude in reasoning.      

In general, our society should promote in a higher emphasis on the intellect training for the civics-maximized benefit.
