The importance of having good neighbors around us can not be overemphasized because these people surrounding us have great influence on almost every aspect of our lives, and even our children’s for they easily learn from our neighbors. In my point of view, the top three qualities that characterize a good neighbor are honesty, warm-heartedness, and politeness.

In the first place, being honest is the most essential feature that a good neighbor must exhibits. Honesty earns one trust from other people. And we all want to live with someone worthy of being trusted. Only with mutual trust between our neighbor and us, are we able to ask for favor from them when we are in trouble, collecting our mails when we have to be our for a while, for instance. I can not imagine my life living with a dishonest neighbor who is always cheating me and I have to watch out for him now and then.

Secondly, it makes one a better neighbor when he is warm-hearted. Living with a neighbor who is always readily to offer me help, I will feel much more convenient and comfortable. In return, I will be willing to give a hand whenever my neighbor needs any help. Helping each other, as psychologists say, does great good to people by fulfill our desire to give and keeping us in mood.

Equally important for some one to be a good neighbor is being polite to everyone. If all the residents in a community behave in good manners, we will all live in a harmony atmosphere. Even though conflict takes place at times, inevitable as it is, a sincere apology is enough to settle the problem. Do you want to live in a place full of fighting and quarreling?

In conclusion, honesty, warm-heartedness and politeness are indispensable qualities for anyone to be a good neighbor. It is necessary for us to keep these standards in mind, not only to look for good neighbors, but also to be good neighbors ourselves.
