15. Neighbors are the people who live near us. In your opinion, what are the qualities of a good neighbor? Use specific details and examples in your answer.

Whether people could lead a happy and harmonious life has much to do with their neighbors’ qualities. So what their neighbors would be like is the major concern when people make a decision about where to live. From my perspective, the best kinds of neighbors will be friendly, community-minded and possess a sense of humor.

The foundation of any harmonious neighbor relationship is that people living in the community all take a friendly attitude toward others. Friendliness between neighbors means that when they see each other they will be worm and polite, which makes a nice and pleasant air. It also means that when they have emergencies they will readily help will each other, which makes life in the community rather convenient. For instance, a mother would not be able to go out to run some urgent errands, were there no warm-hearted neighbor to care for her baby. As a result, friendliness is the foremost and imperative quality to be a good neighbor.

Another important aspect of being a good neighbor is to be community-minded. Good neighbors take great care of their local environment. They will not throw trash when walking in the street, whereas will pick it up if they see any. In addition, they will not play loud music late at night, because they know that will affect other residents’ life at home. In short, good neighbors will consider what effect their actions could have on the happiness of others, when they make decisions, not only their own benefit.

Finally, good neighbors need to have a sense of humor. Since neighbors spend so much time with each other, being able to joke and laugh is important. After a day of stressful work at office, people will fond of a light and humorous conversation with their neighbors. On other occasions, when they are low in spirit, they will need someone to ease their sorrows by entertaining them in difficult times.

In conclusion, although many attributes may indicate a person a good neighbor, as far as I am concerned, I really appreciate people who are friendly to others, have humorous sensitivity and consider the benefit of the whole community. Undoubtedly, living with them will make me feel happier and healthier.
