Is it necessary for everyone to read imaginative literature, such as poetry, novels, mythology? I basically agree with the author’s opinion that it is necessary for everyone to do so, because the imaginative literature is quite important not only for every person, but also for our whole society. The imagination which imaginative literature can bring us can bring different persons different feelings, and to our whole society it is a key power to promote the society to move forward.

To begin with, imaginative literature is essential to almost all kinds of persons with various professions. Living in the fast-pacing time, everyone is under big pressure. Somehow, we need to escape from the real and cruel competition in the real world to come into a dreaming paradise to enjoy the relaxation and serenity. The imaginative literature is a bridge between us and the dreaming land, when we need serenity and relaxation we can just open a mythology book and walk into the paradise. Also for some certain professions, such as scientists and artists, they need inspirations to solve the problem or to express their feelings. Take the scientists for example, who encounter new problems and cannot make any progress, maybe the imagination can give some inspirations to stimulate his mind to think up some new ideas. Also, from the history of China, we knew that the artist who created the mystery of Dunhuang also gain the inspiration from the mythology, then they finally succeeded in completing the long-lasting treasure in the art word.

The imagination is also quite a unexceptional factor to a successful nation or race. Think up the prosperity of the oriental country in the history. It is because the persons at that time have an agile mind and the atmosphere at that time is encouraging them to think freely. But in the late Qing dynasty when the persons do not have imagination due to the government’s policy to close their country to the world, the ever civilization suddenly left behind the creative and prosperous western cultures. What’s more, we can compare the education of China and US. The students in China have a better command of the basic knowledge, while the ones in US have a strong imagination and a spirit to innovate. We cannot just say that the education is better in US, but when we refer to the Nobile Prize Winner or some elites such as Bill Gates, of whom the success is largely due to their imagination of new techniques or new age of the human., we have to commit that the imagination is quite important and thus the education in China should pay more attention to the imagination of the students. Maybe the literature is quite a good course for the student to take, which can bring them more to think and stimulate their imagination.

On the other hand, we have to concede that the imaginative literature is far from our life, at least compared with the practical literature. When we can got the inspirations from the dreaming paradise, maybe we also go far from the reality and may lack of information and the analysis of the contemporary situation, which are quite important. As we all know, in the imaginative literature, the author will express his or her dream or some dreams or beliefs of such a kind of persons. When we get into it, we may lose ourselves in the dreaming land, and even we may totally drop ourselves in the real world to just enjoy the relaxation in the imaginative world. So we cannot just claim the advantages of the imaginative literature, we also need to read practical literature, which can bring us closer to the contemporary world and make us think clear of the condition of ourselves.

Finally, I basically agree with the author due to the importance of the imagination, which can abate the pressure of the persons, can bring the inspirations for certain persons and can promote the progress of the whole society. But at the same time, we cannot just drop ourselves in the imaginative lliterature, we have to face the real world. So when we pay emphasis on imaginative literatures, we cannot forget the practical literature.
