“How children are socialized today determines the destiny of society. Unfortunately, we have not yet learned how to raise children who can help bring about a better society.”

It is universally acknowledged that children constitute a main force to construct society in the future, whose quality significantly influences the well-being of society tomorrow. Among the desired qualities, socialization of children play a vital role in society’s destiny, besides, many other factors such as intelligence, creativity, and sound psychology and morality are also indispensable. Furthermore, although some problems may exist, judging from the unprecedented pace of social development nowadays, we can confidently assert that we have learned how to raise children who can help bring about a better society.

In the first place, children’s socialization, not only closely relate to personal survival but also the development of a society.  By socialization, it refers to ways and processes by which children come to be able to function as members of the social community. It involves the ability of communicating and interacting with others, engaging in social activities, adjusting to society, and most importantly, making contributions to society. Imagine a child, inculcated with profound knowledge and equipped with proficient skills, but brought up in an isolation environment, when he enters the society, he may find great difficulty in communicating with colleagues, involving in work, accepting and being accepted by others. Moreover, he may find hard to adapt to various values, attitudes and actions. How could possibly such a person without socialization exert his talents and contribute them to society? Furthermore, as modern endeavor in every field attach more and more importance to teamwork, socialization of society’s members has become an ever-increasing part in accomplishing every social goal.

However, we should realize that socialization of children is not the only factor that determines the society’s destiny. Children’s intelligence, creativity, and psychology and morality wholesomeness play an equal role. Without intelligence and creativity, how could a society bring about innovations that help solve social problems and stimulate society’s progress? For example, with James Watt’s invention of steam engine, the way of powering was greatly improved and the advent of industrial revolution was promoted. Also, the internet has dramatically changed the way people contacting the world and facilitates the process of globalization. Without a sound psychology and morality of its citizen, the compatibility of a society is greatly disturbed, which will ultimately lead to corruption and degenerate of a society.

Luckily, judging from the tremendous change of present society and the unparalleled pace of development, we can claim that we have learned to raise children to bring about a better society. We have raised numerous of scientists, engineers, politicians, artists, as well as a larger group of high-quailed populaces, who all make enormous contributions to every respect of social life. For example, the emerging of internet has brought people closer from all around the world; new drugs have been successfully invented which bring an end to the previous incurable disease; more cooperation between countries and regions are recorded, peace and development has become the theme of world politics; people are more tolerate of different values ,religious belief and opinions. Admittedly, there are still many unsatisfied phenomenon in our education like the heavy burden of course, non-balanced development of a group of students, psychological displacement of some children, we have already been aware of problems and made improvements to do better.

In conclusion, since children are hope and future of our society, their quality and capacity significantly impact the destiny of society. Along side of socialization, intelligence, creativity, psychological and moral development should also be emphasized. Luckily, we have learned how to raise children who can bring a better society, and we can still do better.
