Issue 38  "In the age of television, reading books is not as important as it once was. People can learn as much by watching television as they can by reading books."

It is the truth that people can learn many knowledge from the television. However, both of the books and television are different medias based on the people. The books have some benefits which the television does not own, in turn, television almost always has this function.

Though each of the books and television has its advantages, television and books are not capable to win over each other. After all, the invention of the television is after the discovery of the book. Television can take vivid films or cartoons to simplify a complicated concept, yet the books have only the obscure words. Here, I remember the tearing studying life of my childhood. In that time, students are always busy in writing notes or taking care of the teachers' every word intensely. But now, students need not pay much attention to these trials, and what they do is just looking at the video textbooks or hearing the tapes of what the teachers have said in the class. If I forgot or ignored some important points which the teacher has emphasized at class, I need not regret my carelessness but take out the CD or tapes recorded content in the class.


With regard to the appealing traits and easygoing nature, television can help us understand or interpret a lot in studying or appreciating their beauty. There are many beautiful animals or world landscapes in the earth. People could not realize every angels. Yet with the soaring interests to the outer world, people cannot help but exploring and feeling this wonderful areas. Tasting the astonishment given by the Niagara Waterfalls, the loneliness of the Sahara desert, the amplitude of the American grand canyon is not like an extravagant hopes for us. All of these can be presented by the television. We should thank for the technology providing this convenience, especially of the television.

However, television is still not a omnipotent role. After all, the books can provide us come imaginary space to conceive a picture of the past or some places which the television has no means to screen it. Reading books is an active progress, where we can make choice of what, when and to which extent we need to learn. With the rapid development of the society, the competition among humans are getting so drastically that people must study every now and then. In this way, can we human beings search the news or learning skills by watching the television in any places? Or, perhaps we should and must depend on this old studying method, reading the books. No matter what you are sitting in park, traveling on air or train, you always find that some people are reading news, novels, magazines to spend their spare time. In short, although television has changed many customs of our studying method, books are still our everlasting friend for obtaining knowledge.

In conclusion, reading books have not been obsolete by modern time. And television is also not so-called important at all. Either books or television can provide knowledge for us no matter what they are different medias. Books cannot defeat television, and TV need not replace book either. Dependence between them can be continued to a long and long time.

B1 从第一句意思来说，写两者之间的优势不分胜负（不过后面注重电视的优点）。
B2 论述了电视可以让人感受到和理解到美好的东西。这一段还是比较切合题意。

总的来说，语句用的不错，字里行间也挺流畅的。
但是从主题来讲，我个人认为，题目里面除了important,关键词外，还有一个更重要的关键词就是learn。
Maya似乎更偏向于写两者之间的优势比较了，而对通过电视和书本，那个可以学到的更多，论述的比较少。
