TOPIC: ISSUE48 - "The study of history places too much emphasis on individuals. The most significant events and trends in history were made possible not by the famous few, but by groups of people whose identities have long been forgotten."

I concede that too much emphasis are placed on individuals in the study of history. However, as for the opinion that some most important events and trends should  possibly be made by groups of people who have long been ignored in the history, as the statement claims, I could not agree with it. I believe that in order to explain the history, the study of the famous individual is necessary.

Firstly, I would like to discuss the aim of the study of the history. To better understand our ancestors, no matter what the individual or the significant event ,or trend in before, is one of the reason. How to clearly realize the past? The method is not only to reflect a similar history, in which had influenced our modern life, but also to understand why or how it happened. As we all know, when you intend to recognize something, the first thing is to transform the abstraction to some simple individual. As for history, this opinion should also be applied in it. We could not catch every detailed events in the study of history. The reason why we are so roughly to it is that the descendants cannot return to the past time in spite of it is authentic or unreal. Finally, the unique real history is the individual famous in that time and his/her characteristics have be conveyed to now. In short, nowadays, the study of history emphasized on individuals is a right way.

Secondly, another aim of the study of history is to teach modern people how to guide the modern society. There are many notorious individuals and also plenty of famous ones who have contributed to that time and now. Studying these individuals can help us better recognize this world. For example, Hitler, the sponsor of the World War II, has impacted the whole world in that time. And studying him can tell the modern people what is the real war. Although there has concealed many people in favor of the war, most of the people have deeply knew the suffering and trepidation provided by the war. Without or even ruling out this important reverse famous individual, it might be that there also would begin another world war at any time. Studying individual can help us know the contemporary life or even predict the future.

I believe the most important one of the aim of the study of history to individual is that using it can help us conjecture the event or trend broke out in history. Significant events and trends, no matter what they are taken in history or now, could be predicted by some individuals. I'd like to take a famous person in history, Edison, as an example. In that time when he invented the bubble, it is assured that there must be some important event would happen since this invention made people a totally different change to people's life. With the appliance of the bubble, it draws many development in most of fields. The factory can be pulled by this ingenious, people can make better life by the light, or even the later industrial revolution was relied on the appearance of the light. We can imagine that without this man, the new world may be as the same world with that time. To now, we could find that studying the individual can make us understand better about now and predict our future life.

In conclusion, studying history should study some famous individuals at first，and too much emphasis on them is not a misinterpretation in that the result of these individuals can help us realize better to the history. And with the help of the famous history individuals, we also could predict and understand insightfully to the past or modern time.
