48. "The study of history places too much emphasis on individuals. The most significant events and trends in history were made possible not by the famous few, but by groups of people whose identities have long been forgotten."
1虽然关键任务重要但不能忽视人民的力量.
2人民需要领导者的引领.
3在更多的时候是二者结合.
START AT 12:31
Who plays a vital role in the significant events and trends in history, individuals or some other groups of people whose names are forgotton by us? When we make studies of the history we cannot divide the question into two cases, as history is created by both two kinds of people.
Firstly, in many people's mind as well as the speaker said, when we meet a concrete example of history event, the hero, who is the leader or the key person and whose name is remembered by the following people, will first come into our sight, and he/she will cover most of our study about the event, sometimes the whole study. It is true that the key person made a great contribution to the event or the trend, however there must be many people, whose name are known by none of us, giving them really strong supports. Just as China in Word War II. Everybody knows they had a great leader Chairman Mao, whose excellent leadership and tactics helped China win the war. However we should also know that there were millions of people, including the soldiers and all the Chinese people. If we just notice the great leader, then history will be misunderstood, because none of the countries could win the war just depend on their leaders.
Secondly, significant thends of the history may last long time while a huge number of people took part in it, such as each time of the industry revolution. Each time of the industry revolution which plays a role of the first magnitude in the progress of our society lasted for many years and even many generations of people were concerned with it, but each time as well as each generation of people had thier leaders. They were the guide light to point out the direction people should go and made sure that they were in the right way. Without them we may find they couldnot get forward even felt into reverse.
In sum, we should not miss either of the two groups of people, as most of the contributions are made by the leaders with their followers. When we come into the mansion of BBC, it is the photos of the anchors in each programme that first come into our sight. They make them the images of the programmes which give the audiences perfect impressions, that is one of the key factor gain the BBC success. However, we all know that behind the anchors there are hundreds of the stuff, and the succeed should due to all of them. |
