Why governments must ensure that in order to thrive their major cities, they must provide the financial support which their major cities need?  I agree with the speaker that an important reason is that the major cities are where a nation's cultural traditions are preserved and generated. However, I take an exception when it is comes to a primary reason of thriving the major cities, or even the whole country.

Major cities in a country like heads of a train, leading a country to different directions of development. Only if these "heads" is thrive, can they drive the "whole train" to a better place. Therefore, every country will ensure their major cities received the financial support they need. One major reason is that the meanings of major cities include many cultural traditions, for example Bei Jing, the capital of China, have many significant architectures --- Forbidden City, Great Wall--- that show people in the world the cultural traditions of China, which preserved and generated by this major city. In order to prevent these architectures---the singles of a nation’s culture traditions, government provide Bei Jing city lots of money.

However, the nation's cultural traditions in major cities is not the most important reason for the necessary financial support from governments, because the position of nation's cultural traditions in major cities are not vital. As a capital, in order to thrive, Bei jing need the more important financial support in alternative field, economy, education, city safety, public health and so forth. In main, though Bei jing is a city that a nation's cultural traditions are preserved and generated, it is not the main reason for the necessary financial support from government.

What it more, the cities where a nation’s cultural traditions are preserved and generated sometimes are not the major cities in a country, however, they also deserve the necessary financial support---not only from governments, but also from private and charity organization. It is important in terms a thrive of country as well. According to so many world most beautiful traditional cities, not all of they are the major cities in a country, for example, Venice in Italia, and also many cities we could not speak out their name immediately. Nevertheless, they are where the nation's cultural traditions are preserved and generated. Comparing to the major cities, these less important cities, even some villages, need the necessary financial support for preserving local cultural traditions.  

In summary, for the final purpose of the thriving of a whole country, we should provide the major cities sufficient financial support, for the reason they are important when it is comes to preserved and generated the nation's cultural and traditions, and also for more important reasons that including development of other field. Meanwhile, providing the cities where local cultural traditions are preserved and generated help the country keep its true glamour.
