Topic138 Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? It is better to be a member of a group than to be the leader of a group. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.
No one can avoid being participating in the role of either a member or a leader in the enormous daily activities. Thus which part to take is invariably determined by one’s personality. As to me, I prefer to be a leader rather than a member, for the three reasons illustrated in the following paragraphs.
Being the leader, as one part of a group, can enhance one’s cooperation spirit. Hardly can anyone be capable of completing a complex task alone, in contemporary society. Imagine that in the operating room, how can a chief surgeon, no matter how experienced and eminent, can save the life of a heavily injured car driver, whose leg is broken while head is bleeding, without the supports from the assistant doctors and nurses. By handling each one’s own parts, the trusts among each member is gained, which ensures the further success of the individual, as well as the team.
Obtaining the team-working spirit is the basic requirement for both the team member and the leader. While to the head of team, the skill of arranging the teamwork efficiently is of crucial importance.
By assigning the tasks to each member in a reasonable way, one will surely lead the whole team to success. In order to achieve this, not only should one understand the program fully, based on his or her profound professional knowledge, but should also know each person in the group well enough, such as one’s ability to solving the tough problem, the particular aspects that one is good at and etc.. The schedule made will inevitably affect the outcome.
Further more, the process of communicating with various kinds of people, within the team or related to the project, broaden the leader’s horizon, for one gradually become more sociable and round developed.
Admittedly, being a team member can be free from the anxiety and responsibility which afflict those leaders. But still, considering what the leader acquired during the task, especially the spirit of cooperation, the skill of arrangement and expanding of one’s horizon, therefore, I firmly confirm that being a leader is better than being a member in a group, for it make life more colorful and meaningful.
PS: 本来想在首段加上下三句的,但不知合适不?
Has it ever happened to you? Have you ever cheered for the victory of a sports tournament with the other team player? Have you ever guide couples of classmates to complete an term paper in A-level? |
