Should the government preserve the wilderness areas in their natural state when the areas are often extremely remote and accessible to only a few people as the speaker claims? Albeit I agree that the government should protect the environment where we live, the statement fails to account for that the government has many other more important things to do with the money and time pended on the protection of the faraway environment.

Admittedly, a lot of publicly owned wilderness areas are not well protected today. Pollution from modern society is a serious problem of the nature as well as the biological balance is destroyed by us human beings. If the problems are not solved, it is the man kinds who will be punished in the end. Thus the government should pay more attention to the problems of environment.

What's more, science tells us that the whole environment is the all and the one thus each part of the entirety plays an important role in it. If we overlook any of them or any of them is destroyed by us, other parts will give us an alarm, and if we still neglect it, we will certainly be the final refugees. For this reason, the government should preserve the wilderness areas even they are far away from most people. For example, many years ago the climate in my hometown is suitable for living, and we all feel comfortable when spring wind flows over our faces. However, in recent years, the spring wind blows much more heavily with huge amounts of sands in it, even sometimes the sky turns to yellow because of such wind. All of this is because the trees of the countryside are cut down these years, when the hill turned to bald, the climate became worse and worse. Bad news has come that the neighbor city has been affected already. If we still cannot solve the problem, the sand wind would blow over the whole country and on to the neighbor countries.

However, not all the areas are so important that we have take action to protect it immediately. Comparing to the problems of environment, we have more  serious problems that we should spend much more money and time to solve them quickly. For example, in Africa, and some other places, thousands of people starve to death, and children there cannot be educated formally. The government should pay more attention to such poor people in stead of the improvement of the environment of the big cities. All the government should meet the basic needs of their people, no matter in big cities or the poor countries, then they are able to use the left resources to improvement the environment.

In sum, I cannot agree with the speaker that the government spends a lot on the
wilderness areas, unless that they have paid enough attention to the other more practical problems, and have enough budget as well as perfectly planed  the protection.
