In this argument, the author recommends that all patients who are diagnosed with muscle strain would be well advised to take antibiotics as part of their treatment. To support this assertion the author cites the results of a study of two groups of patients. However, this argument relies on a series of unsubstantiated[unsubstantial] assumptions which render it unconvincing as it stands.First of all, the author assumes that the antibiotics enable the first group of patients to recover more quickly on average. However, author provides no enough evidence that this is the case. The study of two groups of patients mentioned that the first group patients took antibiotics regularly in their treatment but the second group did not. But this is not means that it was the antibiotics made the different result between the two groups. Perhaps the muscle injuries of patients in the first group are slighter and easier to be recuperated than that of patients in the second group. Perhaps the patients in the first group are younger and heal more quickly than the second groups. Perhaps the first group of patients took other pills or applied other physical ways throughout their treatment. The author fails to mention these factors and can not convince me that it was the antibiotics, not some other factors, that were responsible for recuperation time of the first groups was quicker than typically expected. In the second place, the author assumes that antibiotics would result the same outcome in all patients as in the first group. However, there is no convincing reason to support this case. The author fails to analyze the characters of the patients and the types of these patients’ injuries in the first group[这句上段提到过吧]. Perhaps antibiotics are useful to the patients in the first groups but not effective to other patients, because the efforts that pills made on the treatment are not only with the injuries of the patients but also with the physical characters of the patients. To claim that antibiotics can increase the rate of recuperation on all patients, the author need provide more samples and detail analysis about this point. Finally, the author assumes that antibiotics restrain the secondary infections. However, the author provides no evidence that this is the case. In this argument, the study about the patients did not show that the patients without taking antibiotics in the second groups got secondary infections. If no this statistics, the author can not assert that antibiotics defend themselves against secondary infections. 感觉这段观点别扭In conclusion, the recommendation for taking antibiotics as part of all patients’ treatment is not well support. To convince me that antibiotics cause patients to heal more quickly, the author needs to rule out all the factors which influence the rate of healing. To illustrate that this treatment can be effectively applied on all patients effectively, the author needs to provide more information and examples about antibiotics can increase the rate of patients’ recovering on any condition. argument结构把握很到位,逻辑清楚,分析透彻,很有味道 |
