TOPIC: ISSUE47 - "Society does not place enough emphasis on the intellect-that is, on reasoning and other cognitive skills."

Intellect, the most tremendous treasure of human being, includes conception, judgment, reasoning, reflection and self-consciousness. However, though the society is technological and psychological changing at amazing speed, the whole society does not place enough emphasis on intellect.

It is true that intellect is emphasized in colleges and academic institutions. As working on the intellectual level, people there fully realize the importance of cognitive faculty in the development of society and technology. Different with sensation, which is exerted intrinsically by bodily organs, all activities involving in the process is essentially not caused by reaction and helps us to recognize the essence of our nature. It plays vital and fundamental roles in research and study procedure. For example, in the first year in university, most freshmen are required to study advanced mathematics, which can benefit them in developing cognitive skills.

However, though our human beings have gained so much from our intellects, most people in the society can not recognize how to emphasize them and even not are conscious of utilizing them. As a main composition of society, education system, especially in primary and secondary schools, administrators often emphasize too much on the reciting but the cultivation of cognitive faculty. Furthermore, when encountering some mysterious incidents, people are always willing refer to sensation but intellect. Though sensation and intuition sometimes can save us from unanticipated situation, it not always works. There are large numbers of people in our society often prefers to believe astrology, or some conclusion all by sensation when they encounter something that they cannot conclude at the first glace. Instead of intellectual analysis, they give precedence to their pure sense. This is also can account for the phenomena that often scholars cannot win enough emphasis of society. It is definitely a disaster that we ignores the great intellectual treasure of our human beings.

Intellect not just overlooked when people face weird accidents, but also ignored in their daily lives, liking in social activities, shopping and so forth. When people meet someone for the first time, they often from a impression by sensation but intellectual observation and this impression’s influence would last a long time and may cause people make false discrimination. We often impose many characters on people we do not actually know just by the sensation he/she gave us at the first sight. The ignorance of intellect can extremely obvious among consumers facing with the sales strategy of shopping. People, especially young ladies, often go wild at the sales promotion in the mall. They are fascinating and obsessed in those ostensible favorable prices, and thus purchase a pile of useless products back home with satisfactions that they have gained extra advantage. At this moment, all processes of intellect are disappearing in their mind and illogical sensation surpasses the power of intellect.

Emphasis more on intellect is necessary if we want to make our society thrive. The solution of this embarrassed situation, we must promote the importance of intellect since early schools days. The administrations should focus more on the cultivation of cognitive skills, not the only reciting abilities. Further the government officers often assume that in this high-intellect society, there is no need to emphasize the importance of intellect; however the truth is not the case. People would actually pay more for their sensational pleasure than the intellect improvement. Thus the government should make more propaganda of the scientific and cognitive importance to promote the whole cognitive level of society.

In sum, I strong agree the notion that our society does not emphasize intellect enough. To overcome this lacuna, the endeavor of our whole society, both the government and the public is needed.

感觉语法错误很多, 时态, 句子成分, 词语次序...感觉写的时候得多注意下.
另外整篇都在摆事实, 却没有说清危害在哪里, 如果要展开的话后者才是比较重要的吧? 虽然着眼在现实问题上并没有错, 但我想至少要从论证智力重要性-事实-揭示危害这样的顺序来说会比较有内容.

呵呵，因为我写了一半有人来找，就停下来了，后来又接着写的，所以。。。。。

唉.....
今天急着走，忘了改就拿出来见人了，我现在确实刚写出来的时候就是这么糟糕，不改的话惨不忍睹...
但是写了好久都是这样，尤其是打字超慢的
