With the more and more globalization and international communication, many social problems become not so unique in only one country. The persistent social problems in many countries call for that all nations should advocate and help to develop a global university to solve the world's most difficult problems. However, meanwhile we also should not ignore other functions of the global university, which should not merely are designed to engage students in solving difficult issues of our society.

In the trend of globalization, universities are now communicating with each other not only in their own nation but also abroad. There are more and more world academic conferences, international cooperation between universities from different countries. Many universities are enrolling more students from other countries than before. According to a recent study, the number of international students in American undergraduate education process are increasing 10 percent than 10 years ago, which is larger in England. These international students come into these now environments along with their culture and different world aspects. Different cultures collide but also promote each other and thus generate some sparkle among them. The Chinese students can discuss and debate over the economic issues between them in a peaceful and rational way. The traditional universities are now becoming more global than before.

Besides, many problems in the world now do not specifically exist in a small region, like terrorism, high divorce rate and so forth. These persistent problems threaten many countries and thus call the cooperation of these nations to overcome it. The intertwinements of countries make it sometimes impossible to solve it alone. For instance, the bird flu happened last year in many Asian countries and causes a severe influence on the development of these countries. However, if these countries were not solving this epidemic together and just deal with their own issues, the situation would be out of control.

Furthermore, global university has its own priority in the process of solving some international issues over governments. Because all nations are engaging in this peaceful and rational process of solving the world affairs, we can expect that less military collision which the conventional way government to solve problems. In the global university, there would be less political pressure and thus this solution would be fairer and not just benefit some powerful countries.

However, meanwhile we should not ignore the question whether this so called global university would be a university only for this purpose. As we know, the university's main function is give guidance and education for students in certain professional fields. Besides, there are many majors in traditional university and these students of different fields can cultivate each other to help them not lost in their narrow focus. If the global university is founded only to solve the world's social affairs, it seems would be no other majors, like art, physics. The most famous university are famous for their success in diverse fields. If the global university only aims at solving world's most persistent problems, it would become a research institution but not a university. In fact, the scientific and cultural interaction between nations are much more than before and we already benefits from them.

In sum, I agree the notion that all nations should help to develop a global university to engage students in the process of solving world's problems. However, we should not ignore other functions of global university in science, art and so forth.
